    Why not?

    Sloane is a admiral which was sidelined during the empires reign, so she was placed in command by this grand admiral because of her skills instead of the dogmatic view the empire had before

    He seems to be such a strategic master mind to plan the entire happening in Aftermath

    He apparently emerged from the shadows after the battle of Endor with the command of a SSD

    He seems to adhere to the survival of the fittest

    He has a vision of how the empire should function in the future

    Plageius was a lot, but not an admiral. Seems like he isn't fit to fulfill a military command. Should have had a different title if it was him

    I doubt that it's Thrawn....but I guess it could be. Transplanting EU characters is a VERY SHARP double-edged sword; IF they were to do that, you have two potentially losing dilemma's:

    1. If you transplant the character into the new canon, you risk nullifying their original storyline (Even though it's now "Legends") that might infuriate that characters fans, but may delight others to see him/her being introduced into the new canon.

    2. If you introduce any character from the EU, the rest of the furious fans say; "What about MY character....why THAT one and not mine???"

    Look, I would LOVE to see Mara Jade on the screen, but at the same time her original story that has made her who she is (in my mind) seem to be all for nothing, and it would bum me out. At the same time, if they introduce Thrawn, (like above) I'd be pissed that they didn't do the same for Mara...kinda like that. I'm on the fence about bringing EU characters into canon....

    This might be an stupid question, but does Aftermath contain anything about the OT characters ?? Are they mentioned in any way shape or form ??

    Right away, Wedge is "seen". I'm only three chapters into it, but I think there's no doubt that they'll play a heavy role.

    Han Solo and Chewie are in there, but only for a very small part which isn't in any way connected to the story of Aftermath

    Wedge is in it, but in a rather "not really needs to be Wedge" way

    Ackbar is in there in a small support role, really insignificant

    Besides Wedge, there is one interlude about
    Han and Chewie on the recon mission. They get the news from Han's friend about the change of Imperial forces on Kashyyyk that gives them a window of opportunity to free the planet. Han decides to abandon the mission and gather a ragtag group of smugglers, pirates & Co. to try freeing Chewie's home world.

    Luke is just mentioned and Leia appears as hologram.

    I think they have a few EU elements 1.Finn Calridian = Finn 2.Solo Twins = Rey and Ren are siblings not twins 3.Luke training jedis = flash back sequence

    You make valid ponts my friend yet in my opinion I would prefer to have a EU character used in a new roll than having him/her/it not exist at all. Now don't get me wrong, I love the Expanded Universe alot and it really bummed me when it was all tossed to the garbage and no longer considered canon since I credit the Thrawn thrilogy the reason that SW was resurected but think about it, would it be bad to see Thrawn as a regular high ranking Imperial officer than not see him at all? Fans can argue that he had a better roll in the novels but since that no longer exists what's the point of arguing? I'm a big fan of Durge and I love him being an undying monster but it bummed me he was kicked out of the SW canon. Seeing Durge in one of the new movies even if it were just him standing along with other bounty hunters would be awesome to me! Wasn't that the same with Zuckuss, 4-LOM, Dengar and IG88? How many fans were pumped to see the Outrider included in ANH? Just including it even though you can hardly notice it made tons of fans happy. I love the Yuuzhan Vong and their living technology and wouldn't want that to change but if change is the only way that they can be included then I'm up for it. The only thing I'm really against is if they take a character from one species and change it for another. Seeing Thrawn and Durge would be awesome even if they had different rolls but not if that means making them human or something else.
