They weren't Force users, though we're they? I saw a fun theory that it could be the Zeffo, since they have a connection to Dathomir and the Nightsisters. If I had to bet though, probably gonna be a group newly created for this story. I am excited about a whole 'nother Galaxy!

This is interesting because I have seen these two criticisms from more than one person that I normally fall in line with. I feel like Hera is having far more and far better presence than I expected. I love how she switches roles so easily as the need changes- supportive mom with Sabine, trusted friend and advisor with Ahsoka, as you said, patient wife with Chopper, then a no-BS General Syndulla when pushed...
As far as the dialogue goes, I guess I see what you mean, it's just not Dave's forte... yet. I think Favreau does pretty good with that, so maybe he can pass on a few tips. I think also it could be that so much of these first two episodes' dialogue was exposition-heavy it came off a little odd. Hopefully we will get some more emotional and interpersonal chitchat as the story moves on.

No, they were like anti-Force, or something, IIRC. Still, my thought was that by going to a different galaxy, SW might have opened up a door for the Yuuzhan Vong. (For the record, I don't particularly like how these guys came off in the Legends material, but perhaps a reimagining could be cool).

True. And to be fair -- speaking as a wannabe writer myself -- dialogue scenes are bloody hard! I have total confidence in Filoni's development as a live-action director going forward, and, apart from the dialogue, Ahsoka thus far, and especially episode 1, was marvelous! He has the visual language and atmosphere down to a t, our boy! It's ironic, but the quiet-and-dramatic prologue/introduction scene without a word spoken, was an order of magnitude better than the quiet-dialogue scenes later.

My comment was not meant as a major criticism, mearly an acknowledgement that Filoni has some ways yet to go with dialogue scenes. And I mean, of course he does. He's almost brand, squeeking new at this; he's rode shotgun with Lucas and Favreau for a while, and gotten some master-class training from Johnson on the set of TLJ, and that's it! In the final analysis, he's doing damn good for his level, our boy, and I'm certain he's gonna shine like a nerf-hearder in the decades to come.

May the Force be with him.

Are we in good relations with Dave Filoni now? I can never tell with this fandom.

It was as if George Lucas was directing it. I never thought about it, but did other live action shows have the classic scene transitions? I can't remember.

If you are talking about the actual transitions between shots, done in the editing, or "wipes", I cannot remember them being as obvious in any other shows. Maybe a simple vertical or horizontal wipe, and much faster, but there were a couple of stunners in Ahsoka. I vividly remember at least one clockwise wipe and maybe even a bullseye or some other "fancy" wipe.

Quick little anecdote, my dad was in video/film production, so I grew up in an editing suite- quite literally- he had one in our den. I was taught that when editing, the simpler the better. A straight cut or a fast dissolve between shots were the only reasonable options. My dad's quote was "George Lucas can do that sh!t in Star Wars, but it's got no place in normal videos." When I started college, non-linear(computer) editing was just getting popular and there was a platform called Video Toaster and this thing had hundreds of fancy animated wipes and transitions, and needless to say, some of my classmates thought they were cutting edge using a different one at every cut. We were viewing some of those atrocities in class one day, and I let my Dad's wisdom fly out loud. Our instructor laughed so hard he almost blacked out. Yeah, I got top of the class that quarter.

No, I don't mean between shots, I mean scenes, like the time clock one.

I was going to nitpick this as well, but the more I thought about it, the more I began to wonder if it was a me problem. I thought Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera all had, at certain points, kind of flat line delivery, but I had to always remind myself to not hold them to the standard of their animated counterparts. The dialogue is always going to be delivered more evenly and less colorful because it has to be. That isn’t to say it can’t just be bad line delivery, but I’m going to hold off and assess more before I make that judgement.

As far as the dialogue itself, most of it is “here’s what you need to know and not much else” but I’ve come to expect that from Filoni and don’t really see it as a negative. It gets the job done just enough.

I'm stunned at the low turnout from this fandom; especially with an extended series premier....

and we're only seven comments into the second page? Boggles the mind.

Hopefully, things will pick up over the weekend, but I'm not surprised at all, fandom and casual fans had allot of issues with TBOBF, OWK, Mando season 3, and even fan favorite Andor, to say the least...I had to convince a co-worker to give Andor another try, he did and thanked me for it. Recently a person I know who isn't a Star Wars fan stated, I hear they're cutting back on Star Wars. Some of my close friends aren't Star Wars fans so they like to poke fun.

    RIP RAY

Fans have seriously damaged the fandom and interest for SW with their vile discourse and bullying.

Well, that's certianly a very good point.

I think I liked more this one.
For the action and interesting worldbuilding of the Republic and Empire that will let you to ST.
    For Baylan and his apprentice.
    For the music.

Sorry if someone has said it. My thoughts is at the end they are building the generators and all stuff from Starkiller.

Agree. Absolutely love this character. He could have been a great Jedi without Order 66.
I love how he thinks as well. Seems wise.

The shock of first episode with Sabine's injuries was great.
Didn't like the welcome back with that wound, although all we knew that. Could have been brave and diffrent to kill her.

On a side note, I love Sabine's speeder bike.

    Chopper is perfect.

Loved Corellia too and all Empire Republic stuff (could be nice to catch something from Solo movie)

Also, clearly they are playing with the identity of the Inquisitor. Is everywhere too. Maybe he is someone we know.

I think this one was better directed. Good job from the director.

What I love from majority of SW shows is they take seriously the special effects.

Don't wanna sound overfanboyed, but with Filoni's work so far and we'll see how he wraps up this show, he is as close we can get to George Lucas as a storyteller and cinematographer in SW universe.
Including corny dialogue :D But somehow, it all worked for me.

Hera didn't work for me either. Baylan on the other hand, worked very well, I'm looking forward to more of him.

Oh, Baylan is great! And Hati, too. Even Elsbeth rules, although she's more of a classic villain, type here.

I can't wait to learn more about Baylan Skoll & Shin Hati, these... Ronin-mercenary-"Jedi". They are intense but almost... warm or charming, in a way; passionate and driven without going full Gothic villain, which is refreshing for Star Wars (and also echoes the same strengths in the character of Thrawn). They're a great addition to SW, if you ask me!

Edit: Actually, and this is hard to say, but I've already come to love the character of Baylan Skoll so much that I really hope he has a dramatic, emotional, arc-capping death in the season climax. It would be unfortunate if this great character, portrayed by such a lovely actor, just vanished between seasons... (Unless they recast him with an equally lovely actor to respectfully carry Stevenson's candle).

Ending sequence is visually interesting and I guess it clearly shows the outbound travel to another galaxy.
I must say that while I love Kiner's work in general, I've actually preferred his older works. While he is great composer and I can clearly hear Ahsoka's theme troughout the show, I feel somehow, that his strong themes and similar approach to Williams somehow went away and the OST is quite blurry and inconcrete at times.
When I listen to all, Williams, Giacchino, Powell, Goransson, they all have their respective styles, some homages, some are closer to Williams (Giacchino really sounds and feels like 77 Williams, even tho his themes are mostly different) but strong musical themes.
While Kiner is great, it is not a standout soundtrack to me and I had similar problems with Obi-Wan. Except for the countless re-arrangements of Williams' Obi-Wan theme, the music was just there to fill the background IMHO.
I am also missing more oomph and more grandiosity for the space opera material.
For me, Kevin Kiner completely nailed CW 1–5 and Rebels, I also like his score for The Titans, but I am not getting it right now.
Maybe, if they release the score later, I will give it a listen and maybe re-evaluate or, there will be some surprises, but as written, nothing stands out to me and the music is just there.

How large is the active community here in the Cantina? I know how many members we have but how many are actually active & posting? Seems like it was a lot more before the sequel trilogy dropped but I can't tell, yet.

Anyhoooo, how about the Eye of Sion? How many more badass Sith Lord name-drops are we gonna get here before we we actually see one in Live action that isn't the Star Wars version of Charles Montgomery Plantagenet Schicklgruber Burns (you're old @Lord of the Rens :p)

So excited for more of this show.

Probably the best thing Disney Plus has released since Loki.

Also, just wanted to echo the Balan greatness again. Ray did an incredible job, RIP.

(pwned)I shall enter this post into my quote Hall of Fame - such was the cackle that it generated - thank you for making my morning!(pwned)

How can someone get damaged if the vile and abusive content has been removed? This place (as are most) is filtered - I never see any of that stuff - maybe it's because I spam the block function? I'll never know.... I don't care, they were blocked for being annoying to my fandom in one way or another. What I do know as a former Mod, if any group is to be blamed for said content disenfranchising the fandom - it is the content moderators of those sites who allowed the bad behavior and left all the mean words up during their watch. Internet poe poe's have failed miserably then, if behavior of fandom is to blame.

TL;DR - there's nothing to get offended by; if filters & Mod's are doing their jobs, except a different opinion.
