This was a fun episode, and I really loved the training at the beginning. "Anger and frustration are quick to give you power, but can leave you unbalanced." ... love that quote.

And sorry to all the other favorite droids I have, but Huyang is gunning for your spot.

Who's directing the next episode and is Filoni writing the whole show? I'm fine with the directing and writing so far but simply curious

I have no problem with David Filoni's directing and writing. I still want him to replace Katherine Kennedy in charge of Star Wars for many reasons and I don't even dislike her like most do

Rick Famuyiwa is doing the finale? That sounds like fun.

curious what Filoni will throw at us in episode 5

to the “filoni replace Kennedy”, I feel ljke the issue that could arise from that is reduced storytelling ability from Dave, could it not? Since he’d then have to deal with the more business side of things?

The Thrawn reveal is highly likely.

Whatever mid-season escalation/change-of-direction for the story, might likewise be setup here (like the 5th episode of The Mandalorian season 2 -- The Jedi -- which starts the season's entire Grogu-getting-captured debackle by Ahsoka sending him to space-stonehenge for an attempted forcechat).

So, yeah, it will likely be a big episode, with the "darkest hour" story turn occuring in ep. 6.

    Yes.

Filoni's tallent is much, much better spent creating content than steering the MS Lucasfilm ship.

Yeah, looking at this list, I can't help but think E5 will either give us Ezra, Thrawn, or both.

Something big happening then, in the Filoniverse.

Very true. In that case make Dave dave Favreau and Dave Filoni consultants and producers of most things

Filoni is CCO or, Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm already. I don't think Favreau technically is part of Lucasfilm, and I get the impression that the relationship between him and KK is a bit icy. Either of them would or could be a viable President/CEO but I do believe neither would want the job if it was going to stifle their creative roles. I don't see Kennedy going anywhere yet, she likely wants to get these three movie projects going, and when she does leave, it will be on her terms and on the upswing.

Me too. Ezra seemed to have been ‘missing’ for as long as he was in WBW (a couple hours or whatever). I assumed it was the same for her. Simplest explanation, I reckon.
We know she would have been stranded on Malachor after everybody left. Could be she was there for years.
I think the issue (if you can really call it that) is that this Star Wars ‘show’ isn’t really structured like a show. The episodes don’t seem to be built from conventional teleplays with defined beginnings, middles, and ends. It’s more like a screenplay that’s been chopped up into releasable chunks.

We’re essentially watching a movie cut up and exhibited over several weeks. It’s not paced like a TV show. It’s sections from a larger film that probably would benefit from being viewed all at once. I think the release strategy is working against it a little bit.

Ironically though, that’s what the old Flash Gordon serials, George Lucas enjoyed so much, were: one movie, cut up into interstitial segments - pieces of a whole, without resolution until the finale.
What has Filoni actually produced thus far?

Interesting... Is there anything in particular that make you feel this way, or is it just like a hunch? Admittedly, those two aren't seen together all that often.

Not sure but I think it would be good if he was involved more. Is he producing the cross over event movie or just directing and writing? Wasn't he an executive producer for the clone wars and rebels show?

I forgot he wasn't involved in Obi-Wan and that may explain some things although I find that show underrated

    Possibly.

I actually did feel this with Andor. Sometimes the credits rolled and I felt almost nothing had happened in the episode.

Other times I thought the story of the week had wrapped, and then the show goes on for another fifteen minutes.

But Ahsoka has been relatively structured so far. Ep1 wasn't too atypical for a pilot. Ep2 was Sabine's recovery and Hera/Ahsoka's mission. 3 was about going to the ring station, and Hera's struggles to get reinforcements for them.

idk, again, I get that it's not as overly clean cut as Mando's "Let's go to a new planet every week" approach in its first few seasons, but I think each episode has felt like a solid unit of storytelling, rather than a random chunk.

I just mean in regard to conventional episodic television. Mando is a great example. In the third episode of that show, we have a fully completed narrative with a concluded storyline.

The episode begins with Din having doubts about whether his delivering Grogu to the Empire is morally right. The body of the episode is about him struggling with that and then resolving to save Grogu. The conclusion is then him escaping with Grogu in an almost mirror of the show opening. It’s one fully formed thought from start to finish.

The third episode of Ahsoka begins with Sabine’s pained training, struggling with this unfamiliar perspective of mindfulness. However, neither the body or the conclusion of the episode are reinforcement or resolution to this idea. It’s most certainly going to play into the story at some point in the future, but it wasn’t immediately relevant here. It’s an incomplete thought. It’s a chunk cut out of a bigger picture.

It isn’t a random chunk though. It’s following the natural beats of the story. But it’s a logical break, rather than a narratological one. **Maybe** that might be messing some people up with the pacing . . . maybe. Just a thought.

It's a hunch. I do think that both of them are consummate professionals and generally good people, so there is mutual respect, but she speaks about Dave in a much warmer manner than she does about Jon. It maybe is absolutely nothing, just a familiarity thing.

As far as Filoni's involvement in projects, I don't know how much is common knowledge as far as exactly what he does as CCO, I would imagine he is over any and all creative decisions at least indirectly. Isn't The Story Group primarily tasked with keeping Canon continuity across all media? I would say CCO would oversee that, so whether directly, as a Producer/EP or indirectly as CCO, he is involved in all projects across all media.
