The second season of Andor will start filming later this month.

While Stellan Skarsgård had previously said that season 2 will begin filming late 2022, Tony Gilroy has confirmed in an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub that the first shot of the season will take place in London on Monday, November 21, 2022. That's two days before the first season's finale.

Gilroy will work on the production for a few days before flying home for Thanksgiving, and then flying back to London again afterwards. This news comes off the previous announcement that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz and Alonso Ruizpalacios will direct blocks of the second season.

He has also announced the writers for season 2. Fans of the current prison arc will be pleased that writer Beau Willimon (creator and showrunner for House of Cards) is returning, as is Dan Gilroy. It was previously announced that Gears 5's Tom Bissell is joining the writing team too, with Gilroy revealing to Collider that he's actually looking for writers with Star Wars knowledge for the new season. That's in stark contrast to season 1, where Gilroy has admitted that he didn't want huge Star Wars fans as writers.

This is surely good news for any fans who might be a bit disappointed with how little Andor can feel like a traditional Star Wars show at times. While the tone of the show will stay the same, Bissell's knowledge and passion for Star Wars will surely help if Tony Gilroy is looking to make any connections with the rest of the galaxy far, far away. More Star Wars elements in a show that started off so grounded can only be a good thing.

Awesome. They should just make it like old time soap opera and have new episode at least weekly all year around.
