Andor season 2 wrapped production a few days ago, and it has another year to go until it comes out on Disney Plus. But it seems like everyone is pretty confident in how showrunner Tony Gilroy and his team of writers will wrap up the show.

The latest example comes from Stellan Skarsgård, who is out in the world promoting Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two. Though he couldn't say much, when io9 asked about the Star Wars series, his face apparently lit up. He added:

Skarsgård has been pretty consistent with his praise of Gilroy's writing from day one. The actor, who played the supporting role of Cassian's mentor, Luthen Rael, in the first season, has always been a big champion of the show and the direction set by the showrunner. Details on season 2 are kept tightly under wraps, but given the ending of season 1 and Cassian's integration into the nascent Rebel Alliance, we expect to see a lot more of Luthen in the new season.

The structure of season 2 has also been out in the world since before the first one even came out: 12 episodes divided into four blocks of three, where each block, separated by a one-year gap in the lead-up to Rogue One, covers a few days worth of relevant events. Everyone is coming back (except for Alex Ferns, apparently), including Andy Serkis himself, whose involvement was confirmed in one of the many press releases coming out of Star Wars Celebration London.

Andor season 2 is currently targeting a 2025 release date, after being pushed back from its planned August 2024 window due to the strikes. Lucasfilm will be releasing two live-action series this year (The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew) as well as three animated (the final episodes of Young Jedi Adventures, The Bad Batch season 3, and Tales of the Jedi season 2), so even if Gilroy and his team were to finish post-production in time, Lucasfilm will likely wait for 2025 so they can space out their releases.
