After months of speculation and rumors, we've finally received solid confirmation that Kino Loy will return for Andor season 2 via an interview with Andy Serkis for ET Online. The actor talked about the character's fate after season 1 and what he may be up to in season 2.

Kino Loy would be instrumental in leading the prisoners of Narkina 5 to freedom and in helping to instill courage and leadership within Cassian Andor. However, the show left his fate up in the air when the prisoners had to swim to safety, as he revealed he couldn't do that.

Very quickly, Kino Loy became a fan-favorite among viewers and Serkis received high acclaim for his performance. This is why the mystery surrounding the character's fate has become such a hot topic as many fans have wondered whether he'll be back for season 2. Serkis said:

[IMG] (L-R): Kino Loy (Andy Serkis) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) in Lucasfilm's ANDOR, exclusively on Disney+. ©2022 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

Unless Serkis is referring to a different Star Wars project where Kino Loy shows up, Serkis' comments confirm that his character will return in season 2. He also went on to talk about the fan reception to the show, stating:

The second season of Andor is currently in production. It has also been revealed that it will feature time jumps, with every three episodes progressing a year. This means that the show will likely bring the story as close as possible to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where Cassian Andor is shown to be a prominent captain and spy for the Rebellion.

Forest Whitaker has also confirmed that Saw Gerrera will return for season 2. The show is aiming to wrap production in August, with a Disney Plus premiere roughly a year later. The first season of Andor in its entirety is now streaming on Disney Plus.

This seems identical to what he said at SWC, and not much more than what Serkis and Gilroy have said since the One Way Out episode aired. It's happy thoughts and speculation that Kino did indeed survive the incident, and I love the optimism for such a great character. I just don't know if it make sense for him to show back up in S2 even if he did make it off Narkina 5. Gilroy is not prone to this, which could be thought of as fan service. I would like to see how Kino would figure into an arc, my speculation, it would have to do with striking at the Imperial prison labor camp system, and since that was what Melshi left Cassian for, it could come back around next season. Could be a cool arc, I just don't think we need to keep escalating these same vague comments into "confirming" anything just yet.
