Anyone else looking forward to the Battlefront - Twilight Company novel which will be released in November? My hopes are that is has good individual character development and provides a nice peek into the inner workings, combat tactics, camaraderie, and day to day life of a typical Rebel Alliance infantry unit. I want it to have some great action sequences but not just be a shallow, mindless action novel to capitalize on what I'm sure will be a very popular video game.

The video game tie-in books are overwhelmingly of poor literary quality. I think it's because the publishers primarily feel "action" will sell the book to the fans of the game. I would love to see a change for once and focus on story with interesting, fleshed out characters.

Ben I'm afraid you may be right but let's hope for the best. I'm still looking forward to the book.

Same here! Drew Karpyshyn's Old Republic books were good, so I can't see why this can't.

That excerpt was actually pretty good, I might actually need to read this one.

Mine came in the mail before yesterday. I'll get to it after finishing "Dark Disciple".
The cover is pretty cool, though I wish they revisited the classic SW hand-painted covers also.
Some of the perspective on the solders bothers my eye, clearly the image was painted in segments
and then merged together, that's why the soldier in the foreground and bk. look in slightly different directions
but the rendering is pretty cool I guess.

I had the hardest embracing the character of Namir, and I am sure that was the authors intent, but by the end of the book I was thinking of him and all the members of Twilight Company as old friends. What an amazing menagerie of colorful characters in this novel. I will never forget the likes of Governor Chalis, Prelate Verge and Captain Tabor. A bit of a slow read at times, but a strong emphasis on story and character development. 4/5 Stars.

I can't believe more people aren't talking about this book. I just finished it and believe it's one of my favorite Star Wars books. It showed me that a stand alone movie could work. If Rogue One is as good, I'll be happy!!!

Battlefront was amazing! it reminds me of the old- time war movie and also reminded me bout the star Wars Shatterpoint novel. I wonder if there will be a sequel.

It was one of my favorites and I honestly didn't think it would be. I'm not too into playing the game really so I don't know how it ties together.

Heavy story, not light reading. Goes to new places and a few familiar ones. Primarily all new characters. If you do read it, there is one familiar character, or at least I think it is, who makes a cameo without saying who it is.
