I thought that he had some great points and ideas in the post. I don't know how accurate this is, but I'd go see this movie.

I don't know if this info is accurate, but it does make sense. If you think of all the Episodes as a complete story, it wouldn't make sense thematically for The Force Awakens to end the same way as Return of the Jedi with everyone together. It would be the same ending. Plus a key character in a mentor role always dies at the beginning of each trilogy, so again it would make thematic sense for something similar to happen in this film. I'll be surprised if everyone together in that picture is still together by the end of Episode VII.

He seems to have it now. They need to make him a special badge! Maybe showing the Star Destroyer in whose refuse the Falcon and Boba Fett hid in ESB.

 

See, I don't buy the dark aspect of this film. Especially after reading the interviews from Vanity Fair. Everyone, including JJ, keep talking about joy and fun in the film. I believe this film will have the old crew all survive, and maybe a more darker element for Episode 8, to mirror ESB. I probably have more hope in this than evidence. I just hope after 30 years of waiting to see what happened to Luke and Han, they don't just bring them in for a grand death.

What if Leia wakes up on the Falcon goes to the shower, sees Han & tells him she just had a long strange dream.

 

Yep that the shower is full of wookiee hairs, Chewie needs a trimm.

 

Wow. This is not news. All the rumors point to Luke not sharing screen time with Han or Leia. There isn't going to be an end celebration in my opinion.

This is how the movie ends. Replace Marty with Rey and Doc with Luke!

Rey runs up the steps with Luke's lightsaber, knocks on Luke's door.
Rey: "Luke Skywalker?"
Luke: "Don't say a word!"

I keep coming back to this is a massive investment for Disney. It has to make millions. Stock holders want millions of happy fans spending money. I think they are going to make a fun adventure film with lots of nostalgia and an opportunity to make everyone want to watch this film over and over. They are planning 4-7 more films, depending on your source. I could even see a scenario where Han did die in the filming, but after months of leaks and internet grumbling, they go back and reshoot the scenes where Han lives, prior to December, to please the fans, make more money, and more films. In keeping with the sage, like the end scene of Phantom Menace and a New Hope, I will be surprised if we don't end on some celebratory finale.

 

Not arguing one way or the other but what does people having joy and fun in the set have to do with the film being dark or not? Surely the actors and crew can have fun and an enjoyable experience making the film even if it doesn't have a happy ending.

 

I believe it will have some dark elements but not a dark film.

 

I meant that they are trying to return to the joy of watching something wonderful transpire onscreen and have the childlike innocence like we felt when we first watched the original films. I too, believe there may be some "dark moments", but overall, I think JJ wants this movie to bring us happiness. what other film out there makes grownups cry just seeing the trailer? I don't think he wants the backlash of killing off a main character quite yet.

Also, seems like I recall JJ changed writers because he wanted to focus more on the original cast one more time, whereas others wanted to focus more on the new characters more, and have the OT crew be more in the background. I could be wrong, but makes me think he will give us all one more fun adventure together before we go too dark.

 

Wow, I'd call it ballsy, but I think it's just plain stupidity...do you troll what I'm sayin'? ;-)
