    Lets use forums logic.
    Some rumors had a female chewbacca version, chewlacca. Some other reddit leakers have picked it up and repeated it.
    And evil disney is looking for new territories, female chebacca makes more sense in advertisment markets.
    KK wants more strong female characters.
    Sometimes we have heard a "he" but Han could be lieing, from a certain point of view, since we haven´t seen "it", everything is possible.

    I could see it now, Han getting hit by some blast, causing a fire. Chewie using her own hair to stop the fire. Han dies despite Chewie's efforts. Chewie mourns briefly but then decides life must go on.The result?

    I think we've always assumed Chewy was a strong male wookie, so let's just leave it that way please. I know I'm old fashioned, and I own it, but it they want strong female leads then they need to create new ones, not mess with the OT gang. Mad Max gave me enough feminism for the year!

    If, IF you never saw the dreadful CBS TV Holiday Special; Chewies Life Day or maybe the 1970s era kids book; Chewbacca is a dude, (chewie) .
    He's married, in the holiday special he has a cute young son named Lookie or Loopie, they live in his Kyshyyk tree house estate. Chewie is also about 900 human years old. He's not young or a female.
    Also, by his Wookie race standards he's on the smaller side. ;)

    These web rumors and content about SW characters that are nearly 40 years old is a bit wacky.

    Also, Han Solo in ANH(1977) states; "HE(Chewbacca (chewie)) doesn't like to lose." He means male not female or it.

    Actually, C3PO refers to R2 as a he, after Chewbacca complains about his move.

    Han never actually refers to Chewbacca directly as a he.

    Chewbacca: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!
    C-3PO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it can't help you.
    Han Solo: Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.
    C-3PO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.
    Han Solo: That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.
    Chewbacca: Grrf.
    C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2: let the Wookiee win.

    For all we know Han could be talking to Chewbacca when he says "Let him have it." As in she should let R2 have it.

    Also this thread is obviously a joke.
