If this belongs somewhere else please move it. I noticed while watching the trailer for the Concord Dawn episode of Star Wars Rebels. This takes place I believe on Mandalore and involves the mandalorian character of Sabine.

I hadn't seen anyone mention this, but I think it could be extremely important. In the trailer sabine is sneaking around and gets caught by other Mandalorians. they ask her where she stole her armor. she replies that she forged it and tell them she is from

    "Clan Ren"

this cannot be a mistake, it just can't be. There must be a connection here with what will become the knights of Ren,

Are the nights of Ren, excluding obviously Kylo, mandalorian?

please watch the trailer on the main page and let me know what you think.

Her last name is Wren, hence Clan Wren.

thanks for the clarification, although for the record if I were in charge of the star wars story department this would not happen. When spoken and not read, there is zero difference and thus causes major confusion. It would like having two characters in a story named Peter, and Pytor. What purpose does it serve other than to cause major confusion to someone not reading it, but hearing it.

Yeah I kind of agree, especially since "Ren" seems to be a key term from now on.

There is a thirty year time gap. The "W" could have been dropped. If the name was only spoken for a while when it was written it could have Ben spelled different. Like Obi-Wan became old Ben.

I'm pretty sure "Ren" hadn't been thought of when Wren was made (correct me if I'm wrong)

Looking at the dates, the script writing for TFA and Rebels seems to have occurred at roughly the same time. I guess nobody spoke up and said: "Doesn't 'Ren' sound like 'Wren'? Won't people get confused?" ;)

Yeah, somebody probably should have spoken up about that one.

I posted an article about this recently...I'm sure that it was all in innocent fun as most Hollywood jokes go, but since it's Disney, they made it go waey -_- .

To be fair, Finn being a janitor was necessary to the story. They needed someone who knew everything about the base without being a big shot officer or something. Janitors know a lot about the places they work in. But yeah, playing it up as a joke was unnecessary.

But this is totally off topic for the thread. :)

Ren and Wren are synonyms that somebody definitely dropped the ball on. Wren is a type of bird and they wanted Sabine's name to sound pretty because she's an artist. Ren is short for Revan from the game "Knights of the Old Republic", (that's my theory anyway)... ;)

I definitely am also guilty of the initial confusion but I doubt someone like pABLO hiDALGO WOULD LET THE BALL DROP ON THAT .

I don't know enough about Hidalgo to say yea or nay on that one. All I know is that a ball was dropped. By whom, no idea. Most likely his Disney bosses, but that's none of my business... ;)

You make a great point. I never thought about it, because I saw her name in writing early on. A blind person would have a hard time figuring this out.
