for me its cool, but its still a novelty. after the first few minutes of the movie i forget that im wearing them and my concentration centers on the story being told. 3D doesnt do much to enhance that for me.

Im on the fence if i want to see TFA in 2D or 3D first. I feel like I want to go classic, 3D is a little distracting. These shades are pretty neat though.

Same here. I want to see the movie as comfortable as possible (I get really dizzy everytime I see a 3D movie).

I also stop noticing the 3D shortly into the movie. On the other hand, IMAX does have better textures and less things get lost in darkness. I don't know if it is because I have started to remind myself to not forget the 3D but Jurassic World in Real 3D worked for me the whole movie.

The first rule of Star Wars merchandising - say no to nothing. Put the name on anything and everything.

No one gives you a discount for bringing your own glasses with you to the theater. The only reason I can imagine anyone getting these is just because they want absolutely anything that has Star Wars printed on it. Even if they were free with a ticket purchase, what are you supposed to do with them after the movie is over?

And I agree with those of you saying you prefer 2D. I don't get headaches or dizziness from watching them, but I don't really get any benefit either. If anything, it just dulls the color a bit. But if the IMAX theaters are only showing it in 3D, then I guess I'll be seeing it in 3D.

I don't understand the fascination with 3D, glasses look nice though. I wish there was IMAX 2D coming for this but on the latest MSW podcast there seems to be a suggestion if an IMAX 3D version exists they tend to only show that :(

Theaters with better technology like IMAX, The Cinerama, etc, have better quality when it comes to 3D. Your basic amc theater that plays realD 3D 'lowest quality' tends to dim the brightness. That's why if I see a movie like Star Wars my 1st viewing won't be with these glasses that will be only offered to theaters like amc. However after my 3rd or 4th viewing of TFA I will watch it at an amc to save money.

I used to say the same thing about 3D. You just haven't seen it the right theater.

IMAX must have a brighter projector. Most of the 3D I've seen is darker than the 2D version. Like the glasses cut a stop or two of light out. My Samsung 3D TV kicks ass though. Prometheus and Gravity are like holograms in the living room.

it doesn't add anything to the story telling. That's why i don't get its fascination. I understand the entertainment factor it can bring when done right, but watching finn ignite the sabre in 2D or 3D is not my issue, i'm not looking for the "wow" factor, i'm fascinated by the context of the scene and the motivations of each character. Maybe if movies actually tried to incorporate 3D beyond the wow factor i could get onboard, i just haven't seen it yet.

One thing I hope they do is have 2D as an option when viewing it in IMAX. Probably not though.
