Could James Luceno be hinting at things to come in the Sequel Trilogy? Curious how he references if he could be anything in the galaxy it would be tomb raider.

Curious as well how he has this to say about the new canon ...

I do think that the so-called new canon will share much with the old – especially in reference to ships, planets, and some “historical” events and secondary characters – but that is not my call to make.

The part in the book that talks about an ancient Sith shrine built buried below the old Jedi Temple is fascinating! Would explain where Sidious would have kept old sith relics. Could be a potential set in The Force Awakens for our "grave robber to visit"

I'm slogging through Tarkin now. James Luceno must have missed the writing class about showing not telling. Sheev it's a hard read.

I was blown away about the Sith Shrines myself. No way was that included as something as a "throwaway" part. That smells of the Story Group's doing no question.

People need to read the introduction of the Sith Shrines VERY CAREFULLY in Chapter 9. There are some very key points that I consider spoilery so I'll leave it up to the individual to read it (there is no spoiler heading) BUT...IMO it's crucial to the ST.

Does it mention if the cave on Dagobah was one?

I wish someone wrote a Star Wars novel with the quality of a George R.R. Martin.
    ...but not his speed.

I wrote an article along with my buddy Brian about Sith Shrines and how it could effect The Force Awakens.

I honestly don't think people are paying enough attention to this. Are Sith Shrines in The Force Awakens? Hmmmmmmmmmm...I wonder.

I am speculating that the broad-Saber was found in a Sith Shrine.

No way James Luceno just came up with that on his own. This feels like it's from the story group specifically to set something else up down the road.

I would guess, if artefacts and there collection are central to the plot, shrines and burial places will be too -- so good call.

Ooh I literally just started chapter 9 yesterday but I don't mind the Spoiler as this sounds cool!

    What a nice coincidence!

I think the Shrines and cave like on Daggobath are significant. For one it has a ccertain historical ring to it old sacred sites are subverted by the new like the Jedi temple. Second if it is tradition or even the duty of Jedi to protect or keep out of enemy hands these sites it creates a narrative for jedi in hiding or hermits beyond just trying to keep on the down low.

The opening of Rebels shows Obi giving any survivors instructions to basically wait it out for the "new hope" and trust the force which is a euphemism in context for getting guidence from the force.

Taken together it suggests, one the possibility of order66 survivors but also those jedi may have a sense of mission in seclusion.

Is anyone else having the hardest time slogging through this book? I'm excited that it's the first "canon" approved one - but the writing is just so dreadful.

I listened to the audio book version of A New Dawn and Tarkin. It makes the bulky exposition much more interesting. It's like an old radio serial--perfect for Star Wars.

    Interesting idea! Thanks!

As it is now it's like reading a role playing game supplement. I don't need to know the make and model and manufacturer of every last widget!!!
