I'm really enjoying this focus on more "bigger picture" ideas about the force. To me, that's always been the most intriguing aspect about Star Wars.

Tying Snoke to the Rakata could be a nice way to open the door for new Star Wars spinoff movies in the future that are set in the KOTOR era.

I have a feeling that KOTOR a will never be explored in the films, but I could see mini series of it being released on STAR WARS.COM .

As interesting a theory as it is, I hope Snoke doesn't turn out to be a googly-eyed fish looking mofo.

Soa, big, powerful in the force and imprisoned in the eternity vault for 20,000 years - could Snoke be a version of this character?

"A massive Rakata male, Soa rose to power as a warlord in the Infinite Empire of its species well before the Empire's collapse. Legends later claimed that Soa, leading an army that included his creations, the Annihilation Droid XRR-3 and the alchemical monster Gharj, conquered a thousand planets in his time, and he earned the title "Infernal One." Among those worlds was the planet Korriban, whose native Sith he ruled. Sometime after the Sith King Adas's uprising against the Rakata, Soa and his Infernal Council of traitorous Sith were imprisoned with their army in the Eternity Vault on the planet Belsavis; legends said that it took an army of Rakata and other ancient species to stop him.
    Millenia later, conflict between the
resurgent Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic during the Galactic War unintentionally caused Soa to reawaken. Both sides, somewhat aware of what they had awakened, sent a strike team to eliminate Soa before he regained enough power to become a threat to the entire galaxy. It is unknown which team accomplished their task. The strike team faced Soa's creations and allies, and eventually made their way to his imprisonment chamber. When they arrived, he finally broke free from his restraints and fought them, taunting them and claiming that he could not be defeated. The strike team, however, proved him wrong and finally brought an end to the Infernal One after 20,000 years."

I was dissappointed that Soa was never given a bigger role in the Legends EU. Soa taught the Sith species how to make holocrons but then was booted off Korriban by Adas, King of the Sith species. The war between Soa's forces and Adas's forces wiped most of the life on Korriban, turning it into the rocky place that we all know it as. I wonder how Soa would feel about the fact that the name of the species that booted him off his greatest colony ended up having such a long legacy. "Palpatine and Vader may have called themselves Dark Lords of the Sith, but nobody is powerful enough to call themselves Dark Lords of the Rakata."

I hope not. I feel that that character was made to justify a raid boss in an mmo, rather for for good story telling reasons.

I thought Serkis said that Snoke would be a completely new alien to Star Wars.

That Rakata alien species looks somewhat like the alien hit-man from The Last Starfighter. Or maybe not.

I beg to differ. Soa fits the lore that already existed about King Adas and the Rakata.

Yes but I'm saying the character could be based on Soa, not actually Soa and the Rakata have only appeared in games so I'm not sure Serkis would be aware of them, they could be a very different species just with the same name.
