As my title suggests, I enjoy playing tabletop games. Just finished a DMing a 3-year long 5E campaign, and am starting as a player in the Last Airbender game soon.

As this is one of my favorite forums, I figured it would be cool to start a thread where we can discuss our own tabletop experiences, Star Wars and other.

My recently ended campaign started in August 2019, and ran players through level 15. The story itself was homebrewed, though I repurposed a lot of dungeons and traps from official 5E material.

The basic gist of the story was that the players got swept up in this big conspiracy on the lost island of Chult. About halfway through the campaign, it was revealed that they actually lived in an abnormally large pocket dimension, a copy of the Prime Material Plane and a way to protect the hold Chultan city of Mezro. They accepted their positions as protectors of Mezro and its deity Ub Tao, and battled Ub Tao's former paladins who now threatened the city.

Here are some pics of our adventures:

The heroes (Left to right: Bravura, Akrothma, Maylin). My players designed and printed them from Heroforge, then painged them themselves.

The good ship Havelock Echo, where our campaign began

The Battle of False Mezro, the first large scale battle of our campaign (about halfway through)

Inside the Tomb of the Nine Gods, searching for clues

    Fighting automatons

The "Battle on the Beach", where the players defended the elven island of Eshelthes

The Siege of Hisari- as the players' allies assailed the enemies' capitol, they themselves snuck into the city's interior.

These are just a few of our many adventures. Would love to hear and see your own stories, as well!

I, too, play, GM, and write a lot of tabletop RPGs, and I try to get "in" on average one session a week.

We play a lot of Fantasy Flight Game's Star Wars RPG, which I GM. During the plague, we game several times a week over Zoom, and the 3-years and probably 200 sessions long campaign is now finally coming to an end - only two secenario books left to go! Puh! :D

In the last year-and-a-half, I've also GMed a lot of Free League's Alien RPG, and it's been such a lovely, lovely thing. At present, it is my favorite tabletop RPG. I'm also looking forward to FL's Blade Runer RPG, which should be delivered later this year.

As for fantasy games, we don't play a whole lot of those anymore; we used to play Warhammer Fantasy RPG, in various versions of the game, religiously for decades, but not so much anymore. And D&D/AD&D/D20 etc. have I almost never played... I think I can count my sessions with those games on one hand, actually, which is more than a little weird.

I am also fortunate enough to write for the Fading Suns RPG, recently published in it's 4th edition -- Fading Suns: Pax Alexius -- by Ulisses.

So... yeah... I'm very much an RPG nut, me ;)

    That's awesome!

I've always wanted to get into the FFG Star Wars games. Our group rotates GMs, so I think it may be a while before I DM again, but I'm considering that one next.

I'm curious what about the Alien RPG do you specifically like?

I'll have to check out Fading Suns, that's so cool that you write for them!

They, somehow, manage to capture the atmosphere of the films perfectly, and it is deeply engrained in the lore without insisting upon the players knowing or caring too deeply about it. It is strange, actually, how excellent this game is, seeing as it is based off a rather sparse source material, but they do really pull it off. If you love the Alien franchise you'll adore the RPG.

It's a space opera game, somewhat old school, but borrowing from lots of different franchises. It is often described as Dune meets Game of Thrones meets Star Wars, flavored with a hundred other things.

Hmm, I've never seen Alien, I admit. But I realize that's a huge cultural blindspot on my part- I may have to give it a shot.

All things I love, sounds great!
