SPECULATION Did JJ and Kasdan possibly use old drafts of TESB as inspiration?

    I ask because in makingstarwars:TESB it talks about...a light saber.

    Some rumors suggest these things for TFA and Kasdan had access to all of that and wrote the final draft to TESB.

    I'm not saying they are just womdering.

    One idea that got tossed around a lot in the early stages of planning ESB was the notion that Luke's light saber had a crystal hidden in the hilt, with secret encrypted information on it — including the coordinates of Minch Yoda's planet.

    Then there are old things about a castle and lava. Although there is a castle in TFA , not sure about lava as of yet.

    There was also another ice planet and it was called Hoth but not the ssme Hoth as in the movie.

    There was a love triangle too. I could see that with Rey, Finn a d Poe maybe.

    I think it's more likely the rumors were born out of those drafts just based on available information. I remember reading ALL of the draft scripts many years ago - http://starwarz.com/starkiller/ - and immediately thought someone out there was conencting the dots through those old drafts.

    I think that is likely. George always had good ideas for stories even if the execution and screen writing skills were lacking. Think about AOTC is a good idea on paper. So yeah I think they most likely are cherry picking all the good blast.

    They sort of already did in the past.
    If my memory is still functionnal, The Phantom Menace shows elements of the original Leigh Brackett 's original ESB draft.
    So is Attack of the Clones...

    True but with rumors about the light saber and the few things I mentioned they still might use other things

    I know in TPM they used the water planetvand underwater city

    I definitely think they are cherry picking previous scrapped ideas and reworking them.

    Like there was a draft of ANH where Obi-Wan was a former Jedi now smuggler star pilot. Now the mentor character is Han Solo.

    They're definitely using some old concepts and ideas. We know this for certain from the structure at the Abu Dhabi shoot, which was from McQuarrie's concept art for Jabba's palace

    I expect that elements of stories and characters were lifted from past drafts

    For a while, it was assumed that Max Von Sydow was Montross
