Jon Kasdan Conflicted About Solo 2 Given 'How Much Great Star Wars Content Is Coming'

    As part of his journey promoting the new Willow series, screenwriter Jon Kasdan has been answering plenty of questions about his Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story, and in particular, about potential follow-ups. Recently, Kasdan told The Hollywood Reporter that he'd be interested in exploring the 'Special Presentation' format that Marvel Studios has been playing around with lately. Now, speaking to ComicBookMovie.com, he revealed that he's been conflicted about it over how much good Star Wars we've been getting lately. And perhaps most interestingly, he acknowledged Damon Lindelof's Star Wars film.



    When the topic of Solo 2 and the '#MakeSolo2Happen' campaign came up during the interview, Kasdan said the following:



    Lindelof's Star Wars film seems to be the next in the pipeline, even if the company has yet to acknowledge it. Kasdan is unlikely to be in the know and is currently not affiliated with Star Wars. His acknowledging of Lindelof's film is not an official confirmation that it's happening, but if it wasn't, he probably wouldn't be talking about it publicly.

    Kasdan did continue explaining what he thinks is the main motivation to make a Solo sequel. The interviewer brought up that he would like to see Han cross paths with Maul, to which Kasdan replied:



    This is perhaps the first time Jon Kasdan has shown a bit of trepidation when talking about a potential Solo 2, as the writer has typically been a big champion of the campaign. For now, despite a popular fan movement headed by the #MakeSolo2Happen hashtag on social media, there are no plans to bring back Alden Ehrenreich in the role. Donald Glover's Lando was to have his own spin-off series on Disney Plus, with Justin Simien attached as showrunner, but there's been no public development on that in over two years. Kennedy said earlier this year they were waiting on the actor's availability.

    We probably won't see a Solo 2. We could see Alden again on TV to continue those stories. My guess is Lucasfilm is going to try to keep the film slate in one consistent timeline for now. It's easier for marketing and for the general audience to consume.

    With all due respect to a Solo sequel, I'd much prefer that Jon Kasdan get on the stick and finish up his own Jumanji trilogy. Geez, let's get GOING, man!!! :) :) :)

    to my dismay, I must agree. Some where down the line a possible Disney+ series... maybe.
