At Star Wars Celebration, Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jon Kasdan was asked if he sees a future for the stories left open-ended at the end of the film. He not only believes they will continue, but feels Jon Favreau, who Kasdan said is a big fan of Solo (and was also in it), is the person to continue these threads in future live-action stories.

In an interview with Screen Rant's Ash Crossan, who always gets the best Star Wars bits out of cast and crew, Kasdan gives his thoughts on the future of the stories they developed in Solo, where he sees the characters going, and more.

In a follow up tweet to the interview, Kasdan admits it would be tricky to incorporate Han into the Mando+ place in the Star Wars timeline Favreau and Filoni are currently working in, but the screenwriter thinks Enfys Nest will appear in Andor, and that there is plenty of opportunity to watch Qi'ra's rise within Crimson Dawn, which as of now has only been explored further in comics. But with Star Wars storytelling constantly expanding and growing, who's to say Favreau and others wont also dip into the 10 years between Solo and A New Hope, the way Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor currently are.

Ron Howard once again responded to calls for more Solo several times during Star Wars Celebration. In response to fan chants for them to make a sequel or series, Ron Howard, in classic polite Ron Howard fashion said, 'I'm not the one in charge of that.' That answer sounds like the director is interested in exploring more Solo stories, but that he is not the one to make that call.

Disney Plus has changed the game for Star Wars storytelling, and the streaming series would be the most likely landing spot to continue the threads left open at the end of Solo, from Han and Chewie working for the Hutts, to Qi'ra and Maul and Crimson Dawn, Enfys Nest and the roots of the rebellion, and of course, the already announced Lando series. Kathleen Kennedy recently revealed they are waiting on Donald Glover's availability to begin production on the Lando series. If that keeps getting pushed, maybe the right move is the rework that series to incorporate Han and Chewie, as both Alden Ehrenreich and Joonas Suotamo have been vocal about having interest in returning to continue their story.

Based on how the movie ended, it would make a lot of sense to continue the adventures of all of these characters on the streaming platform, but that's a decision Disney and Kathleen Kennedy need to make. The fan appetite is there as Solo continues to grow in popularity year after year. Nobody ever expected a Willow sequel from Lucasfilm, but they did it, so we will see what happens. We'll leave with a spark of hope thanks to Kennedy's latest quote about Solo, in which the Lucasfilm President said:

    Never tell us the odds.

IMHO, the problem with proceeding with a Solo 2 is that they miscast the lead in Solo 1.

Frankly, I would prefer Ron Howard to direct any "Solo" follow-up over Jon Favreau.
