Did you see ROTJ on pirate video before it was released?

    I did & I was wondering if that was the same experience for anyone else?

    A bit of background: I grew up in South London in the 1980's and there was a guy that lived at the end of my street who could 'get things' - one of which was films before they were released. I remember my father coming home with ROTJ in April 1983, complete with timestamp & dodgy audio & I remember the picture being quite dark and difficult to make out in places. it was identical to the theatrical release.

    anyone else see it in this way? was it generally leaked or was I just a lucky kid?

    I think you had a pretty unique experience, there. I got to skip school in order to go see it, which was awesome, but I had to wait until opening day. :)

    That's a pretty cool story. Haha! A shady black market Star Wars dealer! I guess some things never change.

    I was about two months old when Jedi was released...So the first I'm I saw it (that I remember) was VHS from from the video rental.
