Did you think that Rogue One will have more action that TFA???

I think it's very likely to have more action along several lines:

• ship to ship
• fleet to fleet
  
• person to person
• group to group

There will likely be saturated space battle scenes we might compare with those which were in The Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, and Return of the Jedi.

I especially liked the pacing and character interplay in The Empire Strikes Back in the scene with Han Solo piloting the Millennium Falcon through the asteroids. For me, that was a perfect blend of intensity, effects, emotion, acrobatics, and camera work, with John Williams' amazing music binding it all together and driving it forward.

As for ground battles, we have some early episodic and interesting examples in the Prequel Trilogy.

But, again, I think The Empire Strikes Back took that ground engagement to perfection with the Imperial advancement on Hoth and the snowspeeders.

Return of the Jedi illustrated how Star Wars characters might engage each other in a forest setting.
(Might be funny to see an Ewok pop up and lend a helping hand at one point... ...or spear....)

Perhaps we'll get to see some new worlds and manners of engagement we have not yet seen before (e.g. underwater).

Would be nice to see and hear the more tactical aspects of these affairs, not necessarily to copy the briefings in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, but at least something to give a sense how the Rebels approach matters in contrast to the Empire and Darth Vader.

I just hope they forgo too much "shaky cam" and don't settle into covering battles too much in the spirit of an arcade game.

I also think there's an opportunity to rediscover and newly appreciate aspects of existing ships in the saga through close-ups, unique fly-bys and maneuvers, as well as possibly revealing previously unknown capabilities.

Original ships on both sides will be dominant, I expect (classic TIE fighters, X-Wings). I would welcome seeing some B-Wing and A-Wing sequences.

I must admit, although we probably might not see them, I really admired the slick designs of the Royal Naboo fighers

New ships should be interesting as well!

The "used future" look will surely be front and center as far as aesthetics generally go, and that will contribute much to the realistic vibe expected to dominate this film.

Soundwise, this film should be a sonic treat as well with all the action going on!

The activity and wonderfully positive energy in this forum inspires me to think much before posting, and I hope only to contribute in positive and meaningful small ways wherever I can.

I am so grateful we can share our thoughts and hopes and ideas here among people who care and think in similar ways. This has got to be one of the best times of all to be a Star Wars enthusiast.

As for me, I'm just a simple fan trying to make my way through the Star Wars universe.

Think battle of hoth , yavin, and endor put into one battle but like battlefront. That's how I picture it, judging on pictures we've seen.

 

I don't think it will have fleet on fleet battles.

 

The action will be up tenfold from TFA.

It's going to be a war film.

 

Definitely...if there's a sw movie hat desrves to be a cgi fest then it's R1 .

 

I agree on this point. While I can definetly see dogfights, I think alot of the movie is going to be focused on ground warfare. It's not going to be the star wars people are used to.
