I really do think Disney needs to 'take a bow' with the way they have handled and executed the promotion and pre release of TLJ.

Let's face it none of us have really got a clue what is going to happen. There's plenty of brilliant theories and ideas re plot, characterisation, themes and morality but there has been so little concrete information to build them on. We are building theories on conjecture and speculation with tiny tid bits of information and questionable leaks thrown in. I don't think there's one serious plot point that we as fans can turn around and say in December 'I knew that was going to happen' with 100% certainty.

Disney have played it perfectly and that's some feat considering star wars fans are among the most passionate and die hard of any fandom in the world. If the info was out there we would have found it. We've been left chasing shadows and misinformation.

And I for one have loved every minute. Bring on release day.

You take that bow Disney :p

(Just hope you don't have to retract it in January lol)

    Do you guys agree?

Too early to say. We're still 1 and a half month away.

Will much happen between now and then though do you think? Most of the major promo work has been done. We're already starting to see reused material. I suppose there is still a spate of interviews closer to release still to come but not sure there's much else.

Never bow until the performance is over and you get the applause.

I agree! Disney should "take a bow" !
(Yes, that's Sir Alec Guinness as King Charles I in "Cromwell")

My interest has waxed and waned. The teaser trailer left me cold. The second trailer got me excited a bit, and I think it is probably the best of the Disney SW trailers (which is probably not saying much, imo). Frankly, not much has me overly excited, sadly. I don't see anything really fresh- more AT-ATs and walkers, or whatever they go by under the FO, same ships with little variation, no aliens that really stand out, Crait doesn't look very interesting, the space battle looks more of the same.. But I'm just judging the film by what little has been released- which doesn't even scratch the movie's purported 150 minute running time. Closer to release of the film, more will be out in the open, so I shouldn't be too harsh on what little I've seen so far. I'll be much more excited once December rolls around and the first few reviews start trickling in...

I think they know that they have a huge built in audience. They kinda have a luxury of not overdoing it with the marketing, and serendipitous, I think it'll pay off for fans, too.

And honestly, kudos to Disney for being observant enough to realize and take advantage of this. Not just any film could pull this off, but I think it'll really turn out for the best for us.

Valid concerns, but I also do think the rumored 150 minute running time is going to include lots of well kept surprises (at least, I hope so). Also it's worth to mention that they've decided to keep Canto Bight completely out of both trailers, which is undoubtedly the most original location to come out of the ST so far.

But the more I think of it, I can't help but feel like the only reason I wanna watch the ST is because:

    - I wanna see Han, Luke and Leia
    - I wanna know what Rey really is
    - I wanna know what Snoke really is

Han is a goner, and so is Leia (unfortunately). With Luke being the only one left, Disney and Lucasfilm better deliver on the Rey and Snoke parts. But I think my reasons for watching the ST is very similar to most other people's. It was very clever of them to keep Luke out of TFA, that way his role in TLJ will be his real return since ROTJ (and what fans have been waiting for). This way, the hype for TLJ will grow stronger.

One thing is for certain: Disney has done one hell of a job keeping things under wraps. I'm sure there are plenty of surprises awaiting the fans..

Too be completely honest I admire Disney has the film on lockdown. But from the clips and the company saying about it being different. My interest has some what soured. Plus other things which am not going into detail about. It's just 'nope'. I'm not sure even if I want to go to the cinema. But that's just my personal opinion. Perhaps when details break I'll be hell yeah. But speaking of right now. Not convinced.

Great job promoting the film so far, and as many have mentioned, they’ve done a great job keeping it under wraps.

So why the Mustafar is the premiere a full week before general release?

I think they've done a terrible job. Too much emphasis on some characters while others are hardly discussed. I saw a great dynamic between Rey and Finn in TFA, but all I hear is the connection Rey has with Kylo. I don't care about that, and it was never something that was built up from the first movie for me to be interested in. I'm interested in Rey and Finn as a team, and I am interested in Rey and Finn as individuals. I am not interested in a connection Rey has with Kylo, and since that's what they choose to promote my interest is whatever.

I'm satisfied. I am glad they haven't given a lot away. That's one thing I will praise about TFA's marketing was how it barely showcased anything. Though, someone did point this out that the trailers did point out the major set pieces. As of this movie, I liked what I saw. The new planets: Crait, Ach-too, Canto Bight; all look amazing. They are actual planets and not just cool skins of prior planets that we have seen, cough TFA.

I also think that the production design is a lot better. I know people praised TFA's production value and I do think it is good. But Abrams went a bit too ham at times with the practical and some of the CGI for the X-wings looked awful. Here, this looks a lot better. No doubt because of the increased experience and time as opposed to TFA's abridged schedule.

And I do like the creatures in this movie. Porgs? Cool. So yeah, I am satisfied with how LF has handled the marketing of this movie.

I feel Disney has done a great job of keeping (basically) the whole plot of TLJ hidden! Whether or not the film is bad, good or great it still to be seen. I'm hyped more because of the intrigue they've created!

They didn’t debunk anything, @McDiarmid . The “Rey is a Princess” stuff was their own opinion applied to a quote taken completely out of context in a magazine preview; now that the magazine is being printed, we have the full context to apply to Driver’s choice of words.
