Double Bladed Rey?

I'm also in double-bladed lightsaber team.



Rey had one very brief fight with her staff and supposedly she became quite efficient with bo-jutsu. I hope all this training will be useful in ep VIII and IX.

 

I really hope not. I hated all the colors in the PT. Hope they keep it simple and basic. Do like the idea of a double blade.

And what colors from PT you hate?
PT gave us only one new color ( purple ).

 

She should have a double bladed lightsaber or two lightsabers.

 

Today I started to think about it, and now I have serious doubts, that we'll get any - other than classical - lightsaber in ST. Double bladed lightsaber, lightsaber pike, reverse grip, all require a certain level of finesse, that we can find in PT. Arguably two sabers can deliver some rough technics.

JJ emphasize, that he wanted to go back to the roots of lightsaber combat, namely OT. Now question is if Rian will go same path. He have opportunity to add finesse elements here and there due to trening that Rey and Kylo will receive from their respective masters. Somehow I doubt that.

I know none of the old Jedi class systems have been re-canonized yet, but Rey strikes me as a Jedi Sentinel more than anything. She also looks a bit like Bastilla Shan. The two combined would point towards her getting a yellow double-bladed lightsaber. Would mirror the KOTOR in a similar way to how Kylo Ren's design drew on Revan.

 

That looks awesome but we saw her OWN with a single blade so I think it's more likely for a single blade...

 

But her weapon of choice is staff. She carry it even when she meets with Luke. It would be logical to go with double bladed lightsaber.

 

I think that there would be a big difference between fighting with a giant staff versus a double saber .

 

Staff ain't giant it's quite normal in size for this kind of melee weapon.

No, no, no.

I'm not implying that she should add blade on each end of her staff. I was implying that if her primary weapon is mentioned staff, she is quite familiar with fighting style needed to fight with this staff. Ergo, double bladed lightsaber is logical next step/weapon choice due to familiarity of fighting style.

Only way you can modify her stuff into legit lightsaber variation without changing it completely is lightsaber pike.



Also important part of Jedi training is building your own lightsaber so I think Rey building her own double bladed lightsaber would fit into the story quite nicely.
