Well, I suppose that counts as a spiritual experience. Guess I’ll start dressing in white now. Glad I had this spare outfit laying around.

    Gotta get this out now.

…..uuuggggghhhh, the Gandalf echoing continues. Come on, Dave. Frankly, I do prefer the grey outfit over the white. Felt the same with with Rey’s outfits.

ok, that gripe aside, I really like how they used the WBW and the sequences chosen. The switches Hayden had between Vader and Anakin. Mention of Kanan and seeing Jacen’s abilities. And the purgill idea, going a bit Jonah and the big fish on us as well.

    That was overall fun.

edit: they did far less explaining of the WBW than I anticipated. I think it worked, came across more as the classic “battle of the spirit”, which I liked.

"You lack conviction.... Time to die" - those were spot on, very Vader. Disliked the flashing between the suit and unsuited version.

Hayden is Vader. That is all.

Hayden was brilliant and he looked awesome in Clone Wars armor. Quite a stark contrast to Kid Ahsoka which I wasn’t much of a fan of. I get it, that it was actually the older stoic Ahsoka still, but it was weird as it looked like the poor gorl can’t act. Rosario embodies the fun Ahsoka in later episodes pretty well, so switching to her younger self being cold, wooden with resting b**ch face threw me off and didn’t work for me.

That’s the huge negative. Everything else, awesome. I kinda grow to really like Jacen and his portrayal. Everything about Anakin was awesome, including the lines, effects and after all those years, Sith eyes are back!
I hope that it will have some payoff and not just Ahsoka hallucinating and surviving cold water to wear white sweater afterwards to make herself warn. The lesson doesn’t make much sense until Ahsoka gives it a spin in real life and we’ll find out what did she learn.

    Senator Organa!

Exhausting day for Carson Teva. Love the guy.
Looking forward the next episode to check on our villains and their agenda.

I found them to be distracting. No biggie - the flashbacks were awesome.

Just watched it again, the flashing was less annoying.

Did Hayden improve as actor or he was just better directed and written on Obi-Wan and this episode? I never had much of a problem with his acting or Anakin in the prequels but he just seems much better now

I think it's all of the above. For my money, this was far and away Hayden's absolute best performance.

Never was a huge fan or enjoyed the prequels as much as I would, cause growing with OT I had in mind a different take and characters of that period. But of course I enjoyed the best parts of them.
Never was a fan of Hayden but also never thought he was bad cause he had to deal with bad and forced dialogs. I always thought he was really good in E3 and I appreciated his effort.
I was one of those who thought those de-age seconds from last episode were poor, to make a real impact on the viewer.

But this episode, the de-aging IN EVERY SECOND, Hayden and the rest of it is just PERFECT!!
THAT'S DE-AGING!!!!!!!!!! Or make-up, or whatever it is! Hell yeaaaaaahhh!!

That was an epic episode for sure. When you think they will finish too fast, they give us the resolution of the travel. That was very satisfying and with the music, the reaction of all the actors and extras with purgils, it was so epic. I don't cry easy with films and shows but at the end I had watery eyes.

PT and Hyden just earned another level with this. The use of WBW is just perfect for me. I think it works perfectly. In certain moments and pov it was like Luke in Dagobah (Seatos has energy properties for witches, Sith and Jedi for sure). A training for an apprentice. A vision for a padawan. A learning for a Master.

    Absolutely!

Hayden moments are pure gold. Even if you didn't like the prequels or his acting in there, we can't deny it here. Even, if I am correct, they used 3 different Anakins and all are just perfect. And those Vader flashes here and there are insane. And the last fight with Ahsoka, Hayden and the character are just perfect treated.

I liked the way Jacen is used in this episode and the kid does a great acting job. Well done!

I also think young Ahsoka was just perfect too. Perfectly cast and executed. She was like CW in every aspect of it.

I really like how Filoni explores the Force, like he did in Rebels. In a very spiritual way, like George wanted for an hypothetical third trilogy (in those moments when he thought if it could be another trilogy, would have been a philosophical one).

This episode felt like a new Star Wars movie. Definetly can't wait to see what Filoni has in mind for his movie.

And definetly can't wait for next week!!

Sorry for being harsh and masking a profanity, that probably awarded me a dislike in ages.
But I seriously hope and trust that Filoni is building towards something. The Anakin and Ahsoka interaction in WBW was masterfully done, but behind that visual extravanganza, it was a handful. Nobody else is feeling, that it was more of a rethread for casual fans and repeating the similar theme that Ahsoka was going through Clone Wars? Just to live? She already proven many times that she is a survivor before. I feel that the real underlying issue was her guilt of what became of Anakin and that is something that was holding her from actually really living and progressing further. But that wasn't explicitly adressed and I believe it will pay off later, when Ahsoka meets Baylan. Otherwise, it is an eyecandy intermission, that leads to nowhere.

    Ahsoka Ep.5 – Shadow Warrior
    (Running commentary)

The red forest canopy over Seatos echoes the salt plains of Crait. This episode has been described, BTS, as having a dark middle-chapter/second act atmosphere akin to TESB & TLJ.

(Hera’s lekku are a bit light and floppy. Girl needs to eat, or something)

Anakin looks good. Anakin’s footsteps on the WBW “bridge” (pre-fight) boom the rhythm of the Imperil March.

I love the Jacen & Chopper pairing. The kid is very believable!

Carsen Teva is running with Senator Organa? That’s so awesome! (I need a scene with Leia in the Senate, or something; could be from a distance, I don’t care. I just need it).

Wow! Great flashback! Snips looks great! (And it’s “Sasha” from Barbie, even! Great kid!)

    Anakin looks great!

LOL! Exchange between me and the gf when Anakin transitioned to Vader for a brief moment.
ME (exclaiming at the screen): “Oh, I saw what you did there!”
GF: “Yeah... we literally saw it.”

    Huyang is a darling…

When Chopper says low, you go low.

The WBW sequence is obviously Ahsoka’s version of the Dark Side Cave/Cave of Mirrors. She’s transitioning here, but into what? Ahsoka the White?

    Affirmative; Ahsoka the White.
    …also, Ahsoke and the Whale.

A little sad that Hera & the gang aren’t coming with, but ok. Hopefully, they’ll have some parallel adventures in the home galaxy, rather than just disappear from the story now.

Well, this was an excellent episode; possibly one of the very best SW live-action TV outings! And I’m soooo looking forward to re-watching the entire season in one sitting.

Yup, Ahsoka is good in my book <3

PS: A question… so… who’s the Shadow Warrior? Memory-self Anakin? Ahsoka who fought through the “Underworld” (or "Land of Shades" in Ancient Greek Mythology).

You teasing bastard Filoni, all you give me is a glimpse of Rex?!? Dirty.

    Cried during the episode. Beautiful.

One question: Was it a vision or was she really in the WBW?
