I actually think there is something to it though. That droid PERFECTLY matches the orange/black X-Wing design. Now whether or not that is Boyega's X-Wing is up in the air - but he's definitely hinting at something here.

    I think it's just a coincidence.

I have that droid as an action figure. I'm not sure where I got it either but I think it was a promo for something. I don't think any characters from Rebels is making it into TFA. No idea how old the inquisitor is or how long his species lives but I can assume he is in his 30s in Rebels which would make him in his 70s for TFA. Where was he hiding all of those years? I just dont' think there is going to be a connection at all.

When the Dark Lords (Sideous and Vader) were defeated by the Boy Skywalker, the Inquisitor claimed allegiance to the remnant Empire which is strongly anti-Sith. He claimed that he had been under their Force control and that he was no longer drawn to the Sith. Although always suspected of being a secret Dark Lords supporter and biding his time for their return, he was never sent to the Imperial prison world and has remained an active member of the remnant Empire in the Ministry of Security. Once the Sith return in The Force Awakens however and they begin to infiltrate the Ministry, he is free to let his Sith allegiance be revealed as he actively pursues the Boy Skywalker who survived the Death Star.

At least when I hear Jason Isaacs' voice that's what I think of. ;-)

    Agree as well...

But I do believe that Boyega and that kid from rebels are somehow related. Not the same person, for sure, but related. If the leaks are at least a little bit true, their stories are a lot similar to be just a coincidence. Both stormtroopers, or at least aspiring, both against the empire, or whatever is left of it in TFA, both infiltrated... It must be a family thing :D

I agree that they must be related.

I think the most they might do is give Boyega's character the same last name... he may never mention his father's name.

while it all could be and probably is a coincidence, the identical color scheme on the X-Wing plus Boyega picking up that figure in particular and posting a picture of it does seem sort of interesting.

If the rumors are correct and he is a defecting storm trooper from an imperial ship, would it be very shocking if he had an astromech unit who looks a lot like those favored by imperials?

I have been under the assumption that Ridley's orange droid would be our R2-like character for the new group of characters. If this new droid filled the threepio roll, though, Boyega having an astromech would make perfect sense.

Oh I know. It's like ammunition....pretty standard no matter the warring faction. I meant that if the droid matches the X-Wing, and the droid is Imperial property, and the X-Wing is Alliance property, and they match perfectly like exactly...............well how does that happen? (Would love to see an R2-KT or R4-KT pink X-Wing....but I can't have it all.)

Maybe the droid belongs to the bad guy who turns good guy and they paint an X-Wing up for him to match because he's just fancy that way?
