F/F Games Star Wars Armada

I stopped by the local gaming store today and bought a copy of the newly released Fantasy Flight Games- Star Wars: Armada.

It's described as "A game of tactical fleet combat set at the height of the Galactic Civil War". It comes in a big box, the same size as the box for Imperial Assault, and it is chock full of all kinds of cool ships, punchboards, cards, and more.

At first glance the various components are some of the best I've seen from F/F, and the ships especially are beautifully detailed and painted.

Over the weekend I'll take some photos and post a more detailed and comprehensive in-box review. Until then, here are some pics of the game box and components from the F/F website to give you an idea of what's included-

 

I picked up couple of newly released expansion sets yesterday. The Rebel Fighter Squadron, and the CR90 Corellian Corvette.

The Rebel Squadron comes with 4 each of the- X-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing, and Y-Wing. they are tiny, but nicely detailed.

Got the Victory Class Star Destroyer expansion today. Although the core game comes with a Victory Class SD, this seems to be made from revised tooling/molds. The detail is sharper and more "busy" looking. Nice subtle paint app as well. A nice looking model.
