Favorite visual moments from TFA

I'm sure this was intentional: the second image always reminded me so much of Cloud City. Not just the catwalk, either. The walls, too.

Hey, wow! This is awesome!

 

The first shot of Rey. Mostly because of the trailer. I first watched that thing at 5 in the morning the day after it premiered while waiting to meet with a coworker to drive to a job on Long island. It was a very surreal moment. One I think I'll remember forever.

The shot of Rey and Kylo with their blades locked, and the light shining on their faces. Such a gorgeous and ethereal shot.

That scene with Kylo in the falcon was a mistake in not been in the final cut.

 

Thanks! As for the Kylo Ren-Falcon scene, I wouldn't call it a mistake, but you're right that it didn't make the final cut.

 

even though it didn't make the cut, it is a gorgeously shot moment. both the view from the back, all tilted at an angle and the way he staggers into the cockpit, and also the front shot of him hanging over the seat like he's about to faint.

 

If were talking cut scenes I liked the way kylo walked in to the forest from the first trailer, that was a great intro to the new sabre.

 

Good call. I loved his purposeful stomp and quick draw. Welcome to the Cantina!

I loved the opening scene on Jakku where the stormtroopers shoot up the village, and one of Finn's squad mates rubs the blood onto his helmet. Awesome.

Just rewatched the film today, such an epic scene of millenium falcon badassery

 

Agreed I still get goosebumps down my spine when the scenes plays & that has happened for 5000 times so far.

 

Yeh was great, from the first words "this will begin to make things right" to kylo stopping the blaster and cutting down Lorr San Tekka, it immediately set a tone for the movie.

 

Here are some of my favourite visual moments from TFA.

Opening scenes for Kylo and Rey which seem like visual parallels: both of them are masked. One is walking out of the light, the other toward it; one is with his face to the audience the other with her back to it.




Another visual parallel (contrast) is with Han and Ben on the Falcon. (I will never ever forgive JJ and the two editors for cutting out Kylo on the Falcon scene!)

The entire Starkiller sequence is one of the most stunning piece of cinema I ever saw in a blockbuster. But it's like asking me which parent you love more between your mother and your father.
