So Sci-Fi fans, which would YOU rather see be brought back from the dead as a running tv series and possibly, movies and why?

Personally, I'm torn as I started watching BSG in the 70's and followed all of the subsequent series until cancellation just a few years ago, BUT THEN there was Firefly and Serenity that were gone too soon and it just sickens me even today.

    Thoughts?

this is my opinion on the matter

i loved BSG until the LAST HOUR of the LAST EPISODE
i cant believe it was possible to drop the ball so late in the game!

    im amazed even!

a fan made an edit that made a lot more sense
when Starbuck punches in the coordinates he edited it so they go back in time as well. they also dont just give up and starbuck ends up staying with Anders to take care of him aboard the galactica

this also fixes dangling story ends like that star going nova, etc and makes a closed loop. so there was only one earth
also it flows well with the opening of the original series since the fleet was out in deep space that 'somewhere brothers of man even now fight to survive'

Firefly was short but its all great.. and we luckily got a movie to give us closure

why they cant give most of these high concept shows a tv movie closure or do the 'alien nation' thing where they do a few is beyond me

they dont really make tv movies anymore like when we were kids

I voted for Firefly though it already had a movie. I tried watching BSG and quit after 2-3 episodes. I might try again one day, but right now - I am a browncoat through and through. :)

I love both dearly. But BSG told its story. It had its time. Firefly has more stories to tell. The one season they had ranks among my top shows of all time. I can't imagine what they would have been able to do with more time to get in their groove. Most shows struggle to find a voice ion their first season, but Firefly hit the go round running. Its too bad we'll never see what it could have done when a typical show creatively peaks (usually in the 3rd season or so)

I'd rather have a Star Trek TV revival. Forget the POPZOOMBANG JJ Trek, and get back to a good TV series.

...but out of the two, I guess i would have to go with Firefly. (even though I'm more a fan of BSG)
Firefly never really got a chance. What, like 12 episodes or something? That show had a lot of potential. It could still pick up after the movie.

another great disappointment is the tv series Ultraviolet (1998)
6 episode first season and never renewed. its up there with Firefly for me on the 'why the hell did they cancel this???' list

it follows modern day vampire hunters (has nothing to do with the terrible movie of the same name)
stars idris elba before anyone knew who he was

    Browncoats Unite!
But Captain Malcolm Reynolds is a bit busy pretending he is a Writer/Detective... and also Wash!!

Also, as a full disclaimer, I still have BSG in my to watch queue...

Yes, I agree with @Rebo that BSG had its day- a series and a reboot already. Although I wouldn't mind a movie that had an alternate ending because as @daffy72 said, it was great until the very last hour, and that was just a lazy ending, Moore was actually still writing it at the last moment and ran out of time. I had heard there was a movie in the works from Universal, about a year ago, but haven't heard anything lately.

I really loved Firefly and it's also liked by several of my friends and family who aren't really scifi fans. The main characters were heroes with just enough flaws to make them interesting and human, whereas the re-imagined BSG *heroes* were pretty much just flawed. In the end I was rooting for the Cylons. But I watched it because it was all that was on at the time and the production values were good.

Myself, I'd go for a third option- a Babylon 5 reboot with better CGI, better costuming and better actors (though most of them were fine). That had a story, multiple stories, actually, that really rocked, and a huge overarching theme. A cool space station and great fight scenes. It was very complex and had some awesome characters. I'd LOVE to see an update of that.

I'm gonna admit something now. I sort of liked the BSG finale. Does that ruin my geek cred? Except for the Starbuck BS. That made no sense and was just silly.

No one's going to revoke your geek card over that, :) but yes, the Starbuck thing was really lazy. *Poof* you're an angel. Ugh.

And their turning their back on the ship made zero sense in terms of survival. No one would leave those resources behind, even if they hated what technology had wrought. It's utterly ridiculous to think that they would literally kill themselves to avoid using modern things. Even the Amish go to the hospital, y'know?

I did like the Prez and the Admiral having their little cabin, though. That made sense to me. Who wouldn't want to be alone after all they'd been through?

I mean yeah, some of the details were a little off. I just love the idea of starting over and dismissing technology altogether, after their overuse and over reliance on technology literally turned on them and wiped out their entire civilization. And it being Earth, was a nice twilight zoney sort of full circle ending. Maybe a few plot holes and some moves, but it worked thematically. To me that's enough. Not perfect. But I'd rather they nail the character beats and thematic ending and except a few plotholes, than they other way around.

True, all true. It's just in my line of work, there is no way I'd leave any of that lovely medical stuff behind, and I can't believe Doc Cottle would, either. On the other hand, there might not be much of it left after five years on the run.

What happened to Starbuck was she transcended. She reached the next stage of evolution. An in-between stage between Humans and Head Six/ Head Baltar
What's strange is you only really fully get this if you understand the reference- which is from the original BSG. Its like they had a story writer's meeting and decided to reference and update that part from the original then... forgot to add it :p

There was a fan edit that had a much tighter ending.. when Starbuck enters the coordinates they travel through time as well as space (completely plausible if you accept space fold technology in your story). He edited it so the Galactica went back in time to Earth (the burned out husk they left Lucy Lawless on).. making a closed loop.. while the rest of the fleet stayed out in the cosmos still surviving.. which hearkened back to the original voiceover:

The rest of the edit - Galactica survivors established a colony on earth.. and starbuck returned to the Galactica to take care of Anders.. finally owning up to responsibility instead of always running from it.. and the Battlestar stayed in the solar system, broken. editing things this way actually fills in a lot more plot holes like knowing when the star went super nova at the algae planet, etc

Firefly. I never quite connected with BSG, but it was at least given a fair and complete run on sci-fi channel; which was pretty successful and well received from what I've heard. Firefly got completely screwed over by its network and was never given a real chance to succeed. I'd love to see Firefly come back somehow, but not in the form of a reboot, maybe a sequel or continuation series.

The original BG. I watched the reboot and I could appriciate the quality of the series in many aspects but I never really got into it. The cyclone spies put me off right away but I did like the more military feel.

But the otiginal was just magic. Some of those VFX shits still look great today. It had it's issues ofcourse but I had a feel that was pure space opera.
