Everything I've read, every movie and cartoon I've see that is deemed canon has lead me to this conclusion: Star Wars is about R2D2.

This little guy has been everywhere and has seen everything. I have no idea how much storage this little guy has but think about it.. He avoids getting his memory wiped every time!

From just a regular Astomech on Padame's ship, to Anakin's co-pilot, to Bail Organa's little spy in Rebels, to Leah's messenger, to Luke's co-pilot and now; he's seen it all. I don't know how much storage he has, but he's probably still recording..

How much of a coincidence that this little guy has been to most of the major events from the Old Republic to present?

What if all of this is a "flash back" sequence from R2's point of view? Just food for thought.

R2 is heavily involved in the plot, he goes around the Falcon putting out the flames during the Luke/Rey/Kylo Ren duel as Poe pilots his X-wing in battle. Could be the best climax we've seen in a SW film yet.

George has said that R2 is his favorite character, and in each movie he has him save the day.
Wasn't the original thread being that R2 would tell the beings (Whills?) the events of the Skywalkers in the Journal of the Whills?

That being said, he and Han Solo are my favorite characters. I love that little guy, there's something about him, maybe because he's sarcastic like Han. And, I've taken out my old trusty Kenner R2, which had the sticker mostly warn off, and got a new sticker from eBay to sharpen him up for the new movie. I used to bring him along to the movies as a kid and he would watch the movies with me, something I did with my wife during the prequels (my wife thought I was nuts). My kids are psyched to know that little droid will be with me again for 7, 8 and 9.

I'm positive that R2 will be in episode 8 and 9.

People are talking/speculating that Plagueis is the mastermind behind all three trilogies, but I think it's much more likely that R2 is the mastermind!

It makes sense, he's been at every major event, and I don't think it's a stretch to say when we don't see him he's plotting out the next phase.

Not sure if you are old enough to remember the daily Star Wars comic strip that was in the newspapers... but it was done entirely from the perspective of R2 and 3PO talking to a great computer and relating the adventures...

Exactly! All the more reason for him to be the mastermind! Dead people can't do anything.

Speculation: maybe they gonna kill him or C3PO off in the ST.
I would not like it, but I think everything is possible now without George Lucas at the helm.
I'am curious what the new droids have to offer in the upcoming movies.

They won't kill the droids, you silly geese. Some could even say that R2 and Threepio ARE Star Wars.

It makes no sense to kill the comic relief. They're untouchable.

C3P0, R2 and Luke are technically the protagonists of A New Hope when you think of it, they're the three characters I feel most connected to as a fan.

They will act and serve the plot depicted as their typical archetypes. :-D Guess they will have a minor role.

mind freakin blown man. that's a pretty cool idea. Iv recently watched the OT commentary and they talked about this...in a way. Lucas said that he originally wanted to center the story around the least important characters and he designed the droids to be constant observers through the series, but to twist it into an R2-D2 flashback is pretty cool.

I guess there are more ''nuts'' out there than your wife thinks as I love taking my Greedo to the movies with me! :)
