"A New Hope in a New Jacket"

Even if some people don't like it if it truly does feel like a A New Hope, it won't bother me because I LOVE ANH and, if all of the reviews are speaking of how awesome it is, my emotions during the teasers, trailers and TV Spots (bawled crying during the full trailer), are any indication, I am going to love the heck out of this film :D

Kind of what I have suspected we were getting. TPM is a pretty terrible movie, but it took chances.

ESB is a great film, but it took a lot of chances.

ROTJ is a decent film, but didn't take a lot of chances.

JJ & KK moved away from GL's story treatments because they "wanted to make something for the fans." GL, who I admit wasted three opportunities with the PT, probably had some odd ideas in his treatments, but I bet LK, JJ, & co. could have massaged those ideas into something interesting and new.

"Interesting and new" isn't JJ's M.O. though. "Safe and bankable" is JJ's specialty.

I enjoyed STID despite its flaws, and TFA will likely be a significantly better, yet eerily familiar flick: a safe mix of homage, nostalgia, reboot, sequel, and remake.

Bring on the negative ratings if you want. I'm not trolling at all. I just think all this sounds very likely, given what I've seen regarding this movie for the last year.

If you actually read the review, it actually makes the movie sound like EXACTLY what many fans want it to be. I think what we have to realize is that, although we want it to be for us in ways that advance the story and advance the universe, the producers also have to introduce this world to an entire generation of new, young viewers. I think finding a way that makes the old fans happy in terms of tone, characters, music, FX, etc. while also giving the film the masterful stakes that the original provided us, is a pretty solid way of bridging that gap. I'm pumped and I'm pumped that we get a whole new trilogy to explore the galaxy in.

This makes me feel better than I did before, I'm fine with it rehashing ANH - they needed to make sure Star Wars got off to a good start, and just because they played it safe it doesn't make it bad. If anything, it opens it up more for Rian in VIII.

I said it on another thread - the point of a first act is to introduce the characters and the world, and it sounds like TFA has got that bang on the money.

I'm pretty sure I'll love the movie, but I have to admit it's disappointing that JJ and Larry were so blind as to not see they were rehashing ANH beat-for-beat. What's sad about it is that JJ went on the record over and over in so many interviews saying that were highly aware of the risk of imitating the other movies, and worked hard to avoid that...

That's just completely weird given the obviousness that TFA is essentially an ANH reboot (with different plant names).

Exactly, the review makes it sound great for the fans, which I am most definitely happy about. While I would have rather had a different plot, if it truly does feel like ANH rehashed to me, I'll take it, because hey, it'll be an amazing ride!

And Geekstar just broke Embargo. What a absolute fool.
As someone who JUST saw the movie less then an hour ago and signed a three page NDA (which everyone had to sign) he just screwed over his career (if it is a career for him).

My assumption is that he didn't see it and is going off of peoples reviews, which is quite silly to make a review like that. Best to see it first and come up with your own example and not people you nave never met before.

I'm glad this garbage is not in the Official Review Thread .

But but muh hatred makes me want to believe........

It just seems no matter the level of legitimacy people that want to dislike the movie will cease upon anything they can to reinforce it.

    I strongly doubt that.
They knew exactly what they were doing.

I understand not liking it because it's not exactly "glowing," but it's a safe bet that any review posted by an established media outlet is not fake.

We already have ANH. We do not need another one.
We need a new chapter, new story.

He knew exactly what he was doing writing a review and posting it early, breaching a legal contract?
    Again, not smart.

Yeaaaah, his career is more than likely over. Maybe he just hated his job? Lol.
Also, question: are you planning on posting your review on here after the embargo is lifted? I'd like to know your opinion on the film. Heck, I look forward to everyone's reviews! No spoilers, hopefully. Disney would probably hunt the bell ringers down who revealed anything big, lol.

Can you describe the specifics of the legal contract? Might not be exactly what you think.

I get that. It may not be the most inventive of the films. But hey, maybe it just feels like ANH from what we've seen because we haven't seen the finished product? There could still be a huge whopper that hits us which turns the whole thing around on its head. We'll see...

facebook of the guy who reviewed the movie.
It's from the Authors Page on Geekster.
This review smells very fake. By that I mean not from the perspective from the author, but by second hafl information. Which is why these guys break embargo and they did't sign any NDAs.
It's a World Wide NDA. There is no chance anyone would post the review early if they actually saw the movie and was a member of the press.
A little investigating and it's easy to see that this is a fake "from his eyes" review and nothing but a second hand fake one going off of what someone else leaked.

Wait until you see established journalists review tonight. (and I am NOT including my own in that! I just run a YouTube channel...)

Wait a second, why would some random Belgian blog with 400 followers on Twitter (and probably half that two hours ago) be invited to the premiere?
That thing is so obviously click bait just jumping off of what devin faraci tweeted.

Man I can't wait for the legit reviews, if only to drown out all the trolls and click baiters and all the negatrons eating that stuff up, proclaiming the movie brings about the end of everything good in the world.

We have been waiting years for this, some people longer than I'm alive and now people in some threads here are saying they don't even want to watch the movie anymore because of what some random hobo who found a Star Wars lanyard in the junk wrote on Reddit.

Aaaahhhhh!!!! Rant over, I'm outta here. Next time I'm visiting this circle jerk of misery we all will have seen the movie and sanity will hopefully have returned.

There is no information about any Press Premieres in Belgian today or yesterday... how did he see it then?
