    Basically what @MBWilson said :)

That reminds me I start avoiding MSW and Bespin Bulletin a long time ago on net services. They usually share important information that sometimes become true :p

I have seen things now on MSW I didn't know XD

Thanks, Madmartigan & MBWilson! Very informative replies. Interesting with the tension between leaks and Favreau's statements.

I don't know BB, to be honest, but MSW sure is pretty accurate. Ward certainly hase legit sources who fed him real leaks in the past. I don't watch him anymore, though.

I have high hopes for Skeleton Crew, which, unburdened (presumably) by the pressure of high-stakes SW themes to juggle, should be free to launch itself into some great SW fun, much like The Mandalorian could the first season. Without knowing anything, really, I nonetheless think I'll absolutely adore this show <3

It definitely has the benefit of virgin territory with characters and events. With Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, we saw all the "Coulda Shoulda Wouldas" come out of their basements armed with decades of head-cannon and slinging poodoo because those stories weren't what they wanted them to be. No matter how great it will be, Asokha is bound to see some of the same. So Skeleton Crew has the advantage of getting to tell stories that are entirely new and expectations are low for. We can get some extensive world-building here with the premise of these students roaming the Galaxy trying to find their way home.

Admittedly, I am a pushover, in that I don't really hold any negatives or criticisms for ANY Star Wars, and I can enjoy ALL of it for fitting into what I call The Big Story, but series like this and The Acolyte and The Mandalorian are especially anticipated by me because they expand the Galaxy in time and space. There are so many stories out there in this massive place, the potential is limitless. When we have Creators who see things that way, yet they have love and respect for the Lore, like Jon and Dave, and they bring in like-minded people to tell stories, there is no down side.

Please don't make the kids in this insufferable lol.

Not sure how I feel about this project. Probably not for me. Could be fun...?

    Skeleton Crew goes full A24.
And I love it! Major A24 fan here.

David Lowery: the beautiful and visually poetic A24 films A Ghost Story and The Green Knight.
The Daniels: the both hilarious A24 Everything Everywhere All At Once and Swiss Army Man.
Jake Schreier: the recent A24 show Beef
Lee Isaac Chung: the beautiful family A24 film Minari.

    With:
Dallas Howard: good direction in The Mandalorian.

And to be honest, Jon Watts, the creator, is the less interesting choice. That's a personal opinion cause I really don't like the direction (and scripts) of his Spiderman movies. Let's give him a chance, cause it's Star Wars :)

I was bored and saw the leaked trailer again. Looks good. Looks good. So dark, quite earthy, but really good. Cause it has its ships and planets and I guess some Jedi stuff.
I like one of the expressions of one of the childs. So confident, natural and cool, like actors from the 80's.

Oh, and to finish with more great vibes, it has Kerry Condon. The incredibly beauty and so talented actress from Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, Better Call Saul and the recent The Banshees of Inisherin in an incredible performance, and special mention in the cancelled show Luck, which I absolutely loved.

Has your hype been increased? XD

    Cheers! ;)

So, let’s talk Skeleton Crew, which is next up for Star Wars.

It was originally scheduled for release this year, but it was not listed on the Disney upcoming streaming schedule for the final quarter of 2023, as presented at the company’s earning’s call in August.

The SWNN post (here: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....in-disneys-upcoming-streaming-schedule.64743/ ) had a very good point here, in that Disney might be sitting on the fence with this one to wait out the actors’ strike. This because, Skeleton Crew is a total unknown, and the only thing they really have to promote the show with is… Jude Law. Assuming he’s in the WAG, Disney might hold off on Skeleton Crew until then know for a fact that he can promote it. I think this sounds very logical, and with the strike possibly soon over (=there’s rumbling behind the scenes of this), we might get a Skeleton Crew push soonish.

There’s also the question about Skeleton Crew possibly competing with Marvel stuff, like Echo (scheduled to start releasing on November 29th) and Loki s2 (October 6th release), which might be another reason for delaying SC.

As for post-production times, here’s a quick and dirty look at the time between wrap and release for the various shows & seasons thus far:
    The Mandalorian s1 = 9 months and a bit
The Mandalorian s2 = 7 months and a bit (Covid might have played a part, here)
The Book of Boba Fet = almost 7 months
    Obi-Wan Kenobi = 8 months
    The Mandalorian s3 = 8 months
    Ahsoka = 10 months
Skeleton Crew = (if we assume an October release at the earliest) 9+ months
    .
Andor was a monster production, with 12 months passing from wrap to release.

In any case, I’m very much looking forward to Skeleton Crew! Here’s a brand new story (albeit reportedly tangentially related to the “Mandoverse”) and characters, which is just what Star Wars needs at this time, IMHO.

Another reason behind the Skeleton Crew delay could be that with the strikes in effect, much like the Covid period, there is going to be a big gap in new productions hitting Disney+

Deploying tactics like delaying content means the perceived 'gap' appears smaller and means it's less likely that subscribers will shut down accounts or put them on hiatus while they wait for the new franchise content they're waiting for.

I think both these are correct. The marketing strategy is key. We are seeing much more pre-made promos and featurettes for Ahsoka because likely, they knew the show would premiere during the strike. Chances are that the same type of promos were not made for Skeleton Crew. I also don't think it is likely, regardless of his union affiliation, that Jude Law should be asked or would he agree to promote the show during the strike. I'm curious how the laws that pertain to this in the UK would translate to this type of activity.

I think marketing and promo are a big part, but the show is also being "sandbagged" on the calendar to lessen the impact of the strike on releases. And, let's be fair, 2023 has been a stellar year for SW as far as releases. Ahsoka will carry us through October and then 2024 is just around the corner. If nothing else gets completed this year, for 2024 we would get Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, Andor 2, Bad Batch 3 and probably Tales of the Jedi 2, at least. Not a bad year.

One thing that has been churning in the back of my mind lately, is Skeleton Crew's connection to Ahsoka. It has been revealed that SC was written/adaped to be a part of the Mando-verse series, and especially that it will touch points with Ahsoka (I think?). Furthermore, SC is a show about Jude Law taking "four kids who end up on an adventure to make their way home after being lost in the galaxy following a discovery they make on their home planet". Now, the premise explicitly says "the galaxy", and up until Ahsoka aired, SW had always only had one galaxy of interest, but... could the kids somehow get lost in the WRONG galaxy? Could SC tell a story about how some kids (and Jude Law) accidentally ends up in this new galaxy where the purgills go to roost (or whatever they're doinng there)?

This is an intriguing idea, and fun to speculate. I wonder how they would explain the kids reaching another Galaxy, but Rebels found an interesting way to do so. I think it is certain that we will see Purrgil in Skeleton Crew and if this is gonna be what we are thinking it will be, it could be a great venue to further explain them and what they are/do. I keep hoping somewhere in all this new discussion of Hyperspace and Intergalactic travel that we are going to get a Nihil path engine reference, maybe bring one of the San Tekka clan into this Era...

I haven't been able to come up with anything good, myself. One thought I got was that perhaps the Eye of Sion intergalactic jumpring thingy is bigger than we realize, and there might be lots of people onboard; like, a workforce with their families onsite, and the kids + Law somehow doesn't get off the thing in time before Elsbeth & Co makes their jump. But... I don't buy that myself, to be honest ;)

Ooooooh... That's a stellar idea! I only did the Light of the Jedi book out of the High Republic era, but the Nihil and the San Tekka Clan were great additions to Star Wars! I would love to see all that tie into the "future" eras of SW, somehow :D

I watched the leaked teaser (from SW Celebration in April 2023) again last night, and I have some speculations:

There are four main kids in the show, 2 girls and 2 boys.

Asian tech girl with platina hair (Kyrina Kratter). She dress smartly, with a stylish cream blazer over a red sweater (possibly with a white tie) and leather gloves

Caucasian girl with brown hair (Ryan Kiera Arms), wearing something like a wool-lined bomberjacket with a patch on the left side of the chest. I think she fiddles with the back of an RX droid's head at one point, unless it is the tech girl character with a different harido :)

Hispanic/Latino (?) boy with big hair (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), who sits in the “co-pilot chair” (if the Millennium Falcon is anything to go by, cockpit-standard-wise) at one point, and stands in some sort of starship (gunstation?) bubble in another scene. His silhouette looks strikingly like Sigourney Weaver in Alien/Aliens in some shots!

And the blue elephant boy (Robert Timothy Smith, presumably), who sits in the pilot-side seat in the cockpit (again, if the MF is a standard). There is one CGI shot of the blue elephant kid from behind, and he looks a lot smaller in that shot, although it could be an image perspective thing (or… is RTS a little person, perhaps?). In any case… :D

There’s an early shot of a garage door opening on a workshop of some sort (or just a vehicle garage), with the silhouette of blue elephant boy and another kid (probably big-hair boy) who hangs/clings onto the door as it glides open. The next shot is of the girls popping/standing up in camera inside of a workshop, but I’m not at all certain it’s the same place.

We see a scene where a father figure (Tunde Adebimpe) runs around an apartment calling out for Vim -- "Vim? You better be studying!" -- intercut with kids running in the night through a dark forest, splashing across a brook.

The name Vim made me think of the young female protagonist in Mistborn, Vin, but that's probably a coincidence. Actually, there's a shot of big-hair-boy (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) in what seems like a school environment, so his character is probably "Vim" (which might very well be a short-form of a longer name).

There are some starship shots, flying over a cratered moon-like surface and another panning shot through a mass of ships -- I believe the kids are on a Firespray Gunship (like Slave 1) at one point (i.e., the "starhship gunstation bubble" I mention before).

We also get a nikto character giving off serious pirate/scoundrel vibes!

There's an open office scene, with a rodian and an ithorian background character, and the way this is put together it might indicate some sort of child services/missing kids bureaucratic institution thingy, but who knows (that would a bit common and dull a location for SW, but we've got lots of office bureaucracy shots lately, so... perhaps?). Alternatively, this is "dad's" workspace ('cause he's definitely typing away at a terminal), which could possibly show him misappropriating company time/resources in searching for the kids.

No shots of Jude Law, and not much hint of the story premise.

To be honest, I'll be shocked if at least one of the kids isn't a secret Forcer, especially with Law reportedly playing one too, but for now the show appears to be more outlaws and underworld-focused, although there isn't much to go on yet (and... we all know that Palpatine is gonna be behind whatever bad stuff is driving the plot, right? ;) ).

I love that this feels like new Stat Wars, the same way that The Mandalorian season 1 felt. I hope they don't connect Skeleton Crew too closely to existing character arcs and metaplots.

I had forgotten that there were stills from Skeleton Crew shown at SWC in London this year! (I wasn't at that pannel, unfortunately)

Here are some stills of the Skeleton Crew gang:
    SWSC Screen+Shot+2023-04-07+at+8.53.50+AM.jpg

    SWSC Ancient-Map-fragment.jpg

Great pics of the kids & Law. Also, these pics proves that Robert Timothy Smith is playing a mo-cap character, and the blue hands pretty much confirms that it is the blue elephant boy :)

Interestingly, the third picture looks like they're reviewing some sort of tapestry artwork (map?). Cool stuff :D

Also, the girls have ditched their red jumpers, and Kyrina Kratter/Asian tech girl has discarded her jacket as well.
    SWSC girls.jpg

And finally, I managed to dig up some more information: Jaleel White’s character is reportedly a pirat, and he (White) spent time in the makeup chair every day while filming, which included prosthetics. Chances, therefore, are high that he plays the nikto in the trailer

Skeleton Crew is the next show. I whish we had some new footage for everyone (as The Acolyte).
Are there any rumours or news on the net about trailers or something? Haven't seen anything in a while.

    Nothing concrete.

There was a technical listing somewhere (can't remember where) for January 2024 listing, but that might simply have been a year 2024 marker with an arbitrary month listing.

Moreover, Making Star Wars & Bespin Bulletin have bounced a supposed insider leak off of each other, that suggests a Christmas 2024 release for Skeleton Crew.

What that means for The Acolyte's release schedule -- if the above rumor is indeed true -- is anyone's guess.

Just a wild guess, the Acolyte might be released August 2024, I have nothing concrete to confirm this, just guessing...

Yeah, I suspect they're reshuffling the release schedule for things, and The Acolyte might come earlier than Skeleton Crew, now. Andor s2 was supposed to drop in August 2024, but that has been punshed back to 2025, so The Acolyte might very well pick up that time slot.

The 3rd and final season of The Bad Batch is also supposed to release in 2024, although nobody has heard a whisper about that, so perhaps that'll get postponed, too. The same goes for Tales of the Jedi, s2.
