    Filming will be moving there in about 2 weeks.

    it looks like some kind of promotional video rather than just fans as they are defiantly being directed around the set & I do not think there security would be that lax that they let anyone walk around a film.

    opps I thought they were filming but it is just photos being taken so maybe it is fans as Vader seams a bit short though I can still hold out for some sort of local promotional Campaign/Advertising

    It could be filming from the Dubrovnik film commission to attract for movies there...just watch that area will be like Area 51 in about two weeks...you get a job like that beinf an electrician and a grip and all on that side of the world and in a union .

    Well, considering filming doesn't move there for another 10 days, I doubt it's anything.


    MSW had heard that Skellig Michael was more or less being recreated at Pinewood... I guess this is proof.

    What I mean is... what does someone do to end up painting sets and stuff? Do they starts off as house painters or fine artists... or do they start out on sets?

    They always pretty much start on sets/have some sort of training and previous experience in a related field. The easiest way is to also be certified to do those things and be unionized in those regions and/or have a contract with the studio or with the specific teams. But actually building up to Star Wars takes years of experience working on similar blockbuster movies/tv shows and such.

    They start out as artisans of various sorts... and they are the cream of the cream of the crop. One of my fellow alumni (Anthony Kosar) went on to work on Indy Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but was only hired on to work for that specific film. He's probably one of the best 10 artists I've ever met, certainly the best student from that era @ the Academy we attended... kind of a shame that he's not working in that industry... not sure if that's by choice or not. If not though, it shows how high standards are. He actually won the TV face off competition one year, (where people do movie makeup).

    That is some beautiful craftsmanship in these pics! I don't think your run of the mill carpenter or house painter can do this sort of thing. The guilded age craftspeople are a dying breed, though there's a few isolated examples like that crazy cathedral being built in Madrid. Here in the states it seems like everything is built to be disposable... you are from Australia though right? I'm wondering how it is out there?

    Was he certified and unionized? That's huge deal for LFL/Disney but he must have been insanely talented as they Are extremely careful even for assistants to assistants to assistants z
