And I got credits on JJ revisiting Jakku :D why would they want to back to Tatooine??- You want that cheesy ending shot with them all looking out at the binary sunset, don't you?

Up until now just now, I did :D but actually, perhaps a reverse of that shot would be a more visually interesting way to end the Skywalker Saga with? Someone on the bridge of a ship looking out to see the two suns flanking Tatooine?

“This one’s for you, grandfather” :D

Haha, Force ghost Anakin just buoys him on throughout the film: “Ben, I can help you rule the galaxy, but first, you have to rid it of sand”. :p

My bet is on Jedah. Seeing as we might also get Yavin 4 again, (and seeing as JJ seemingly like to revisit stuff), it is not unlikely that we'll get some "delving into the nature of the Force" type sub-plot in Ep.IX, with Kylo &/or Rey visiting the worlds most significant to Jedi/Sith/Force lore (i.e. Jedah, Yavin 4, and Ahch-To are prime candidates, but so are Mustafar ['cause Vader], Jakku [Dark Side pit thing], Dagobah [Force nexus], Lothal [Jedi temple], Coruscant [Jedi AND Sith temple], and whichever world Luke's Jedi school was on). Such visits, especially if we get several, could be pulled off in a simple location montage, or we might possibly get Indiana Jones-style action adventure across several different locations (not un-similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark where we jump Peru-Chicago-Nepal-Egypt-Aegean Sea Island-Washington DC all in the course of a single film!).

IX will be the last film in the trilogy, and the locations visited needs to require as little additional exposition as possible, so going back to well-established worlds is a likely possibility. That, or they might give us new worlds-exposition through pre-release comic books and the like the way they did with Crait for TLJ.

Ending shot: Supreme Leader Ren and R2 are standing on the bridge of the SUPER Finalizer and are watching Tatooine explode.

    REN: We did it.
    R2: Beep Beep
REN: Yes Master, they are all gone and nothing will stand in our way.

    Roll credits.

Yeah, I know, we’ve already seen it - Star Wars 38: The Ashes of Jedha, right? I should have been clearer: I want to see what it looks like some 30 years after that, in the period of the sequel trilogy.

This would look fantastic on the big screen. It could also be the Mustafar of the ST. xD

Hm... all right, then. If this is an accurate representation of Jedah post-Rogue One, then there would be no point in going to Jordan to shoot Jedah scenes. This world (in the picture) is wrecked, and there's nowhere in Jordan (or anywhere else on Earth) that would fit this vision of the planet*; in other words, if this is what the moon of Jedah looks like now, visits thereto would require a CGI set. I guess Jedah is out, then...
*Here I mean wide shots; there are, of course, smaller, individual locations that could be made to represent smaller spaces on a wrecked world.

PS: I hope this is an exaggeration/comic book dramatic license depiction of Jedah. If not, then there would be no point in ever using the Death Star's full destructive power as this one-beam shot kills the entire world, and I dare say, any ship/space station fired upon. I thought the one-beam shot was a city-killer while a planet-killing shot required a full ray.

Yeah, from there. In 30 years it should probably be a barren rock, but it also shouldn't have any atmosphere left, like it does in the comic. So yeah, it could look like anything if JJ decides to go there.

The beginning of the end of the Skywalker Saga begins today with IX getting into production.

I’m someone that enjoyed TLJ for the most part, but I also understand some of the complaints that I’ve seen about the film. My biggest worry with IX is that I just can’t see how this trilogy, and Skywalker Saga as a whole, can come to a satisfying ending in 150 minutes, or probably even less.

That’s not even anything against J.J., or Rian for that matter. I just think that a fundamental mistake might have been made by having the entirety of TLJ take place straight after TFA, because this is where, with the prequel and original trilogies, the largest gap in time was (between the first and second films in the trilogy). I think that’s important because it allows the protagonist to have a major victory, and then allows them time to lose direction/end up going in the wrong direction, before a mentor can step in, or a major event can occur, to change their direction (or push them further down their path), setting them up nicely to make a choice of their own in the final film in the trilogy.

I just don’t see that with the sequel trilogy and Rey right now. Many will argue that she’s developed a lot, but compared to Ben’s development, I don’t think that there’s any doubting that Rey has a flat arc. That by itself is okay, and allows Ben’s arc to take whichever direction it needs to for the story to progress; I think that if you reframe this trilogy so far as being Ben’s story, then I think it’s much easier to understand and enjoy. But I still think that not enough time has passed in the two films prior to IX for them to find their own footing, and so we could end up being presented with characters that have developed greatly in the gap between VIII and IX, if we assume that there will be a substantial time jump.

May the Force be with J.J. As someone who enjoyed The Last Jedi - loved it, even, at times - I think he has a tough task on his hands in completing this trilogy.
