Han, Rey, Finn and Gleeson Character Leaked Images?

Too bad that ain't going to happen. Finn will not be force sensitive. Only Rey is.

Rey is the New Luke of the ST. There is only one main lead and that is Rey. Finn unfortunately won't be as strong of a male lead as you would think. We are now living in an era of strong women and weaker men.

Unfortunately that is most likely the path that this new trilogy is going. Finn is Rey's sidekick. He is the new Leia/C3PO of this story. Luke will only train Rey. The Force Awakens only through her.

 

I'm not 100% sure about the rest of your post but I can confirm this.

You talk like you have already seen the movie. Finn is the first image we have ever seen when it comes to TFA and I just think he will have a critical role in this next trilogy. I think he will be a strong hero type character just like Rey. Rey might have the leading role as far as her lineage goes (we can all assume skywalker/solo) but Finn will also be very important in this upcoming film.

 

From what I've seen of Finn, he belongs in Weenie-Hut General for getting covered in booboos. Hope he's not an annoying Weenie the whole movie.

 

It's like some people can't accept that Finn (a black guy) can play a pivotal role in star wars.

 

No need to bring race into things......... Anyone or anything in star wars can pivotal in this franchise

 

When does anyone say that? He can be pivotal and not a force user.

 

I think there will be a pivotal point in the movie that will change him. But he's a chump. He starts out a Storm Trooper!There's no bigger a chump!

Only someone with insecurity themselves would even bring skin color into this.

 

I kinda hope that there is no Skywalker/Solo connection with either Rey or Kylo. I know that is not a likely possibility but I disagree with GL in the fact that it has to be all about the Skywalker legacy. It's a little boring and contrived to have the same family across now three generations, to be the absolute most important people in the universe. Unrealistic and a very tiny universe. And what other stories or movies can we reference as an example that has such a long generational domination over its fictional universe.

I hope that when the OT character pass the torch it leads us into a newer and bigger Star Wars universe.

I mean were all the Old Republic Jedi from the same family or were they from all over the universe? Can we not have good force users that aren't Skywalkers/Solo's?

Again, in pretty sure Rey is the next disney princess but I feel a little underwhelmed especially since this was such a prevalent theme in the EU.

Rey's character was initially male right? Didn't I read that JJ swapped genders with some of the characters? My understanding was Rey was initially male and Finn was initially female and it was JJ who wanted to primary protagonist to be a woman.

Good on him too, action films don't have to stick to an alpha-male hero template, Star Wars in particular seems to celebrate the rich diversity of the galaxy its embedded in and the Rebels themselves are an inclusive, "all races are equal" organization versus a xenophobic "only humans can hold positions of power" kind of organization in the Empire.

So the more diverse our heroes are, the more it seems to jive with the overall structure of Star Wars.

There's an awful lot of allegories in Episode IV, too many to document here, but one of its themes is diversity can produce ingenuity. The xenophobia of the Empire perhaps more documented in the EU, but none the less a prominent theme with the brand.

I wager Finn is a superb character for all these reasons and more. But, the most important reason he's going to be great though is he has tremendous talent. He's a great actor, he's going to rise to become one of the most popular SW characters ever for many of us. I'm looking forward to it.

Daisy is casting from heaven, she's absolutely perfect to carry the burden of the primary protagonist.

 

I think there is concept art that shows a scene like this, where Kylo stands over a defeated Finn, who tosses his lightsaber to Rey. I think both Rey and Finn will be force-sensitive, but I also think there is a good chance that this scene might still be in the movie. Maybe Maz will train Finn in Ep VIII while Luke trains Rey?

 

I think it was speculated to be the Chrome Trooper role was gender-swapped. Some of the earliest rumors were that the main character was going to be a woman.

This was a continuation of the idea that Luke's sister (who was not made into Leia until ROTJ) would take on the mantle of the protagonist in the ST. Nellith Skywalker was an idea at one time that made it into Brackett's Empire draft.

Producer Gary Kurtz said that the plan (if it could be called one) pre-1980 was that

Some of these were just all condensed into Episode VI to wrap everything up nicely with a bow. Hamill said that he had a conversation with George Lucas back in '76 where he'd be a cameo to meet with the next new hope character and pass on the lightsaber ("Excalibur") as an idea for a sequel trilogy.

In the story sessions for ROTJ, Kasdan suggested to Lucas to kill off Luke Skywalker and replace him as protagonist with Leia. Fortunately they didn't go with that. It wasn't the right timing.

Anyway I think Lucasfilm was testing the waters with Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars TV show and other Lucas ideas that came out later like Strange Magic and its protagonist, Marianne.

This article specifically mentions Captain Phasma and Maz as the likely candidates that Geena Davis convinced could be women, but I swear I also saw an article that suggested initially Rey was to be male and Finn was to be female, but the genders were switched at some point.

I can't find the source for this, but if anyone else saw it and can remember it, I'd be grateful, meanwhile I'll keep digging.
