This is all purely speculation. In the recent interview with Anthony Ingruber here: http://www.starwars7news.com/2015/0...-han-solo-in-the-upcoming-anthology-film.html
he mentioned that he had been approached a few years ago to voice in Star Wars Rebels (he didn't specify that it was Han but I mean take a wild guess...). Now considering it's been speculated that Rebels will tie in closely to Rogue One, perhaps some of the story points they did away with in Rebels could be used in Rogue One? At least to a small degree. This would be a great way to introduce audiences to Ingruber as Han Solo for a small bit and set up for his own Anthology film (or whatever they're called now). This part in particular caught my attention.

SW7N: Can you tell us about any voice-over work or film roles you will be involved in the upcoming months?

Anthony: Unfortunately, I can’t share anything until it is announced! Hopefully soon though!

Now this could just be him talking about some upcoming projects completely unrelated to Star Wars. Could be true. However seeing as how he was going to (supposedly) play Han Solo in Rebels, leads me to believe that he will at least get a shot at playing him at some point. Whether on screen, in Rebels, or both. He also did an interview with Monkeys Fighting Robots (http://www.monkeysfightingrobots.co...ge-of-adaline-experience-and-han-solo-rumors/) and the following exchange took place.

"...have you had any conversations with Lucasfilm at all?"

“Well that’s the thing about this industry you can’t really say anything until it is time to announce something. Again, I’m not saying there is anything to announce. I’m definitely trying my hardest to at least get a shot at it , because it would be amazing and it’s something I’d love to do. I’m working towards making it happen, fingers crossed,”

Could be coincidental but I have a feeling he'll be announced soon as Han Solo and he will have a small cameo in Rogue One. Or am I just sleep deprived and going crazy? Feel free to speculate further.

That would be great if he had a small part!!! It will help to ease the transition by giving us a small taste of a new Solo and letting it set in.

Exactly. Of course it depends on how far out Rogue One takes place. If it's right up to Ep IV then it's probably not gonna happen considering Han would have to be pretty much the exact age he was in Ep IV. My theory spawned from all the interviews and stuff that Anthony Ingruber has been getting recently. Like 5 in the past week or so. Maybe more. Could be because of Adaline but it seems from his comments about Star Wars that he has some kind of involvement. At the very least Lucasfilm knows he exists. So because of that it seems like they could be announcing something soon and maybe it's that he'll have a cameo in Rogue One. Or I could just be reading too much into it.

It actually makes sense. Captain America: Winter Soldier will have the first appearance of Spiderman in the Marvel universe. I think the same sort of concept could be applied to whomever plays Han Solo.

Recently there has been talks about a Han Solo cameo on some other fan sites. It was even eluded to on a major Star Wars internet radio show.

Do you think Han will be back?
Do you think it's a good idea?
Do you think they should establish him now as THE NEW SOLO?
Do you think it will be jarring having a different actor?

    Lets discuss!

    So many questions.......

    Moderator Note:
I did some digging and someone had made a "Han Solo in Rogue One" thread way back in September. So, going by the Cantina "who posted first, get dibs" I have merged the two giving props to the original thread. Sorry about that to the original author - Moderator Biff

    1. No. The Han Solo movie will be the only one containing a Han Solo that is not Harrison Ford....I lament it
    2. Bad idea. Ford=Solo, Solo=Ford. Any depiction of him that does not feature Ford will ultimately become a weak caricature that will be very out of place.
    3. No, I dislike the idea of an Han Solo movie. Ford is Solo, nor can you exchange Indiana Jones for someone else. It's heresy. Since TFA Han Solo is a saint and I worship him. In my new religious fervor I have decided in all my wisdom aided by Solo himself that any depiction of Han Solo that does not feature the likeness of Harrison Ford is blasphemous and anathema. Any item which contains an alternate likeness shall be burned, torn apart or stoned.
    4. Most certainly. That would be even more heretical.

But hey, guess who actually will be back in Rogue One (boba fett) No one messes with Temuera Morrisson!

it will be odd for sure. Other films have done films with the same character but different actors and failed. Any film come to mind that pulled it off?

James Bond :p But then JB is a codename just like 007 according to the JB universe. Well the problem is that Han Solo built the characters Indy and Han Solo almost by himself. He is the character and that's what strange about it. A new Bond does not have to imitate the previous one, he is his own character. But you cannot suddenly change Han's character so it will ultimately revolve around mimicking Ford. I think McGregor's Obi Wan was pretty well done, but not at the moments when he imitated Alec Guinness. Whenever McGregor gets the initiative to give his take on Obi Wan he nails it.

My biggest question would be what purpose does it serve. He's a smuggler and not in the fight at the time. His story arc doesn't really fit in to this.

I will say this, Anthony's appearance to Ford is uncanny. Indy reboot anyone?

Tarkin in Sith. Dude looks like his head is inflated. They totally choked on the fabrication of the Death Star in that. It looks like some kid went wrong with an erector set.

Your points show exactly why the Han Solo film is an iffy prospect to begin with. At least with Obi-Wan we had literal decades between films, which in turn gave McGregor some leeway in putting his own stamp on the character.

As for Han Solo, at this point it doesn't look likely that Ingruber will be the one to play him, I could definitely see him getting to do voice work on Rebels however.

As for seeing Han Solo in Rogue One, considering that the film takes place immediately before ANH, that would be silly IMO. Unless they have an actor that looks EXACTLY like Harrison Ford it will come off as distracting seeing as how there is basically no time jump between the end of Rogue One and ANH. Additionally why would Solo even appear in the film, it only serves to make the galaxy seem smaller by implying that not only did he end up encountering the main hero of the Rebellion in ANH, but now he also encountered the people that stole the Death Star plans!?! Seems dumb to me.

That being said, we don't know how long of a time frame Rogue One could touch on. The conclusion will obviously take place immediately before ANH, but that doesn't mean that there can't be any flashbacks or scenes that take place before a time jump. I do recall reading rumors of scenes showing Felicity Jones' character when she was a child, for all we know the film could have a couple different time jumps. If we do get scenes set a few years earlier, then it would at least make more sense to show the new actor who is playing a younger Han Solo. They could even do it in a non obtrusive way, maybe showing a video screen in a cantina that shows Han Solo as a popular swoop racer or something along those lines.

Nope. Han Solo will get his own solo adventure soon enough, hopefully with Ingruber, if not, Egerton. To shove him into a war and heist movie just doesn't feel right. It would be jarring as well. We've seen him lead in comics and all, but this is more about separating us from Luke and force-users, and showing the soldier's perspective and an unlikely band of heroes, not a smuggler with a heart of gold.
