    It shadows Avengers, simply because there's a new Thor figure every year. So Disney is going all balls to the wall to re-establish Star Wars in toy aisles.

    Makes sense if his mask is on the packaging. I assume they will have another trailer then revealing him (or whoever else is) in the mask or else it would really confuse the mainstream who is on the package.

    IMO, I don't expect them to reveal who the character is at all, if they can keep it to themselves, until the movie comes out. Unless maybe he isn't going to be as an important villain type of character.
    But you could be right?

    The image plays a huge role with villain as well. We had Darth Maul, Darth Vader.
    In case of Darth Maul, everyone knew that he is the evil Sith with dual lightsaber and even after seeing the movie, we knew exactly the same info about him we did before - he is the evil Sith with dual lightsaber + that got cut in half and fell in a pit.

    So I don't think that backstory is necessary.

    I'm not saying backstory. I'm saying the public needs to see his mask in a trailer. The main fans haven't seen the mask before. I guess they will get it looks similar to Vader and assume it's a villain. But if I looked at a Star Wars package and saw that mask before seeing it in the trailer, I'd be very confused.

    Ah sorry, got it wrong. Well, as part of their ident, as SW is know for it's iconic villains since Darth Vader and using them on packaging, I think you will put 1 and 1 together when seeing it beforehand.

    I think that for some mother, it can be confusing buying on blinf in Toystore: ''Well, what are these glowing ninja sticks?''

    I wouldn't be surprised if the card on the figures packaging was very vintage inspo'd similar to how they did the trading cards. Probably a bigger blister pack due to how they package toys now the consistent Kylo Ren image as the background but using this type of logo/graphic layout around it.

    I just saw this "open letter to Hasbro" over on Making Star Wars site:

    First off - struck by how funny it was that the author had STARTED with "Hasbro" Star Wars figs. Hello - it's all about the KENNER!

    Second off - when I was 8 years old (March 1980) - I was in the local Kmart with my dad. He went off to buy whatever it was he was buying and - as you did in 1980 - he let me wander off to the toy section all by my lonesome.

    When I got there - Maclunkey HELL HOLY blast THIS IS AMAZING!!!! - NEW Star Wars figs! With The Empire Strikes Back packaging. It was a nerdgasm before they were invented. I got Lando (who??!?!) - Han in "Hoth" outfit (where?!?!) - Leia in Bespin outfit (Huh?!?!) - and - wait for it - on the back was a mail in offer for Bossk - the Bounty Hunter. HOLY Maclunkey blast!!!! This was the greatest day of my life.

    My dad finds me. I show him. He nods his head. Asks how much they are. The response - "99 cents?!?! They used to be 97 cents!!!!" But I begged and pleaded and I got them.

    I have a hard time believing that the $12.99 figures of today are the equivalent of 99 cents in 1982. But they are - after all - a luxury good and not a necessity (for most) - so I guess we'll just put up with it. ;-)
