How about a new rating?

I believe clouded and disagree are both neutral

 

I"m not sure too many will have strong feelings to give someone a "maybe" rating. I only rate like 20% of post I read when I want to reply, without giving a lot of words in a formal reply.

 

What about a cocky rating, with an image of Han?

 

Maybe the "off topic" button should be more off topic ?

 

I think we need a neutral agree button. Not everything I agree with is something I like.

 

I always liked the idea of a "nerfherder" icon with Han. It represents something that is kind of funny but kind of offensive...not in the troll zone yet, but could get there. It might be a fun rating for someone to give if someone is being snarky or using dark humor, not anything to lose points over (or gain).

 

Personally i consider that "Ratings" are the fracture points were everythings break down in this forums.

First Off - I'm not a likeaholic and i will not search for likes compulsivelly

I like the diferent ratings, with all the nice symbols and all, you guys have here but as i said earlier to @Trevor i can understand giving a like rating to some post but to me giving a negative rating is kinda embarassing and ofensive towards the poster so i never do it and prefer to continue my path with rating it at all. In the same way i can't say to a person certain things so i can't post or rate other peoples post negativelly if that person isn't offending anyone.

Therefore i would propose to Mr. @Viral Hide the following Rating Upgrades:

- Replace all the Negative Ratings with the "Move Along" rating (Stormtrooper icon please)
- Keep the "Trolling" rating to classifie the offensive and inapropriate comments and posts
- Make the "Great Post" Rating the best rating, over the Like, a super like rating, for the real special things

 

I was just trying to avoid unnecesary arguments and grudges.

Negative ratings are negative things on the persons who rated like that in my undurstanding, i can't go down that road, i don't want to be the guy who trash talks others or gives them negative ratings. I consider someone have the right to be "Pessimistic" and i won't consider that a bad/negative thing, i might "Disagree" wtih someone, it's a natural thing, but i won't insult that person giving him a negative rating, it's like saying to a person "you're wrong" and i don't like that at all and prefer to say nothing and move along. Guess are just different moral standards to us all in here.

I would understand the Rating - Reward system you describe but actually people are giving ratings in an very incoherent maner. In any avaliation/reward system must be a regular understanding of the evaluation terms, if you ask around over this forum you will get very different values to measure youre ratings meaning the evaluation is not a regular thing but a very unbalanced expression of self fears and self ambitions. Nothing is perfect in the mens society, everything can be understod according to the wills of the diferent people.

Perhaps i might start a Non-Like Movement.

 

Disagree is a "neutral" rating not negative and "non-like" would be dislike...

 

Allow me to Disagree (pun intended)

Non like is not being on the same page or not show approval
Dislike is showing disaproval or being contraire on one opinion

I think they are different. I just wanted to state the not pursuit of likes and similars as a purpose. One Non-Liking movement will be something like not giving likes and any other evaluations. I'm just a rotten punk to the bone and don't have any simpathy over unilateral evaluations, and i really tend to became very judgemental over other people unfair criticism agaisnt anyone.

Off Course i can't be the knight with the shiny armour, that looks just stupid, but i feel the need to say something for it here and there, M Gandhi used to say "You must be the change you want for the World" and i agree with him. The bottom line is that i can't understand people that spread negative ratings around over perfectly innocent opinions BUT i never wanted to be the moralist or the righteous one just trying we all consider if it's really necessary before giving away bad ratings and fuelling bad bloods.

 

you can't really control how other people use the ratings no matter what words are used. people who want to be ugly with them will be ugly. two of my three negative ratings come from merely agreeing with the previous poster / saying "i like that idea" and incurring some lurker's needless wrath ~ hahaha.

The curious thing here is that i think you are completely right on your statement.

It just fell kinda sad that some few idiots can harm or annoy all the other people who just want to spent a good time chating around their favorite movies.

i hear you ~ negativity bums me out. but i just keep a wide berth of people who have a disproportionate percentage of negative ratings themselves. it's obviously not fail-safe, but there's conversation and then there's mindless bickering, pessimism, etc.

find the people who are like-minded/articulate/interested in dialogue, and engage them. ignore the rest.
it helps to just sort of read threads and get a sense of people, their humor, their biases, etc.

i dunno man. have fun and don't sweat the jojos. even they can't ruin Star Wars.

 

Can we add a HAPPY rating when somebody reads something that a friend write and make us happy?Like is not the same as happy and Funny is not the same as happy either.I think is the ONLY feeling missing.Something that make you happy like this image below MAYBE???Is ONLY a suggestions....Sometimes i feel happiness when a person write something nice about SW.We are a BIG family BUT we live in the galaxy of the internet.Why not share a rating of happiness to that person or express that you are happy....
