I think if given a stand alone setting, he'd be more tempted. He could do a Jeff Nichols movie in the Star Wars universe without having to fit into the works of others.

Give him an old republic era type movie, where he could just do what he wants....

Not saying it's likely, because you are probably right.
But after Midnight Special, all I want is Nichols in Star Wars

He's has quite a bit of time to work on the film. I wonder is he filming anything else in the near future, then I would worry.

The thing about JW is, he was basically given a shell outline of what the studio wanted and the story was basically written when he and Connolly wrote the screenplay. He basically just had to direct a movie around set action sequences and such.

The biggest issues on JW are most certainly not his fault.

    Watch Safety Not Guaranteed.
He's actually a very good story teller.

Colin Trevorrow's an adequate filmmaker. I'm confident he'll deliver.

I'm not worried for Ep. 9, I'm really worried about the Han Solo film they keep pushing filming start date. From January, February, and now March and I got bad feeling its not because their considering moving the release date to December. Those two directors have a good track recorded, but they were fooling around a bit too much at last years SWC. Talking about they wasted allot of time looking for a person to play Solo.

I really don't know much about the film industry. I do love Star Wars, and loved TFA.

I haven't watched a Jurassic park film since the first one, but I gave Jurassic world a go as I heard that the same guy making that, is doing episode 9.

My word, that film was crap, cheesy and bad.

Please someone fill me with hope regarding his ability to not make 9 as bad as that film I watched last night. Or was Jurassic world not his fault?

The thing about Jurassic World is that it was mainly the studio's idea for a movie, with the general set-pieces put in place before he even jumped aboard. He just filled in the gaps and made his movie from there.

I've heard that Safety Not Guaranteed is better if you didn't like Jurassic World - that movie was the reason why Stephen Spielberg found him in the first place and put him on the shortlist for potential directors of any of Lucasfilm's then-upcoming Star Wars projects. He wasn't hired just because Jurassic World broke the bank at the box office.

Safety Not Guaranteed is great. If you have a chance to see it, you will understand 100% why Spielberg chose him.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I will trust in the fact that the same company that made TFA, are making all 3. TFA was amazing.

I am a huge Gareth Edwards fan because of the care and attention to detail he showed in R1. He is a true SW nerd who happens to be a great Director too.

I would like to see Gareth back directing another SW movie....maybe Ep X? Let him show his love for SW with a new vision for the future.

I'm more worried about RJ. He is writing 9 after all. Does he believe in a traditional father/daughter relationship?

So RJ is not writing 9 or he does believe in a traditional Dad/Daughter relationship?
