SPECULATION How many plotlines will the ST have?

    Star Wars hasn't really been a singular story, it's a big world with many things going on, for example

    PT- The return of the Sith, Prophecy of the Chosen One, Anakin's path to the dark side, Anakin and Padme, Palpatine's rise to power, Civil War between Republic and Sepratists

    OT- Galactic Rebellion, Luke training as a Jedi, Han and Leia, Luke's struggles with the dark side, The Jedi focused on ending the Emperor

    ST- ????

    My own personal theory involves- Ridley, Boyega, and others trying to return the Jedi Order, The fall and redemption of Luke's son (I'm of the Gleeson is a skywalker party), Imperial vs Republic conflict, Political machinations of Leia and others, The return of an ancient (Sith?) fear, the revelation of a third order of force sensitive treasure seekers, and other minor ones

    I see what you are saying, but I think they are complex but unified plots with many strands within each.

    The PT is about the Sith’s rise to power. Facets of that plot include the chosen one, trade federation blockades, the decline of the jedi order, Anakin and padme and its eventual causation of the fall of Anakin, and the machinations of the cone wars. All these thigns are just parts of the whole plot that is the Empire rising.

    Same goes for the OT. It is about the fall of the empire. Facets include the rebellion, Luke’s training, and Yoda and Obi-Wan’s plan to finally best Siddious. (Jeez, itemizing that really illustrates how much more streamlined the OT plot is over the PT)

    So, I’d guess the same for the ST. One overarching plot (take your pick…new republic, ancient fear, return of the sith, balance of the force) with all the various characters and skirmishes being caused or intimately entwined with whatever the main plot is.

    I'd guess the overarching plot would be the Rise of the Jedi/rise of the Republic. One can't happen without the other kinda thing.

    Then, I guess to answer your question more specifically. I get the sense there are 4 main plot strands to start.

    - Daisy and Boyega with Han and the rest on the main adventure.

    - Daisy and the Grave Robber/Luke and their relationship

    - Whatever the hell Leia is doing

    - And Driver/Christie bad guy machinations.

    I suspect quite a few characters will die in EP7, and then the new ones in EP8 will carry it through.

    I keep seeing Boyega as the sacrifice in the script to motivate Daisy onwards.

    I hope not.

    Having the black guy die first is such a cliche

    I am hoping Boyega helps break some of the Hollywood hero and leading actor mould.
