I odn't think that Palpatine put that in Anakin Skywaler's head, though, since his mind was already unstable enough to see it for himself that it would, and DID, hapen .

 

i'm with @AstromechRecords , i think Anakin had that stuff in his own head without Palpatine's help. what Palps did was play off Anakin's existing fears and doubts and fed him a line of BS about being able to bring people back from the dead, etc.

 

My theory is almost identical. I'm not so enthused by the "Snoke is speaking to Ben's dreams" alone. Perhaps aspects of that and actual interactions as others have mentioned make this more convincing and allow for better story writing.

Also, very few people have mentioned that in Rey's vision we are seeing things from her perspective. Kylo actually saves her from another KOR and spares her life. Pretty much the same as you mention above but with the added detail that he kills his fellow Knight to save her (the murdered character is credited as a KOR). This shows that he is even more conflicted than you'd think. Rey represents his weakness towards the light side.

Overall, your summary brings in to perspective just how sad and tragic Luke's story has become. He will surely be somewhat of a wreck and in a state of shock in the next film and Rey will possibly redeem him. I almost wish they had made this back story episode 7 because it is a very compelling and dark one. Cheers!

I wonder if the empire found Snoke and took him in to train him, but then Snoke saw the weakness of the empire and destroyed it's leadership, creating the first order.

I love the idea, except for the Plagueis part. I don't think that Disney wants Plagueis to be part of this trilogy. However, he will be getting a standalone movie in 2022. Maybe we'll learn more about him then.

I could accept a redemption arc for Kylo only if Snoke has Force brainwashed Ben since conception. In other words, Ben has been manipulated not only through conversation but direct force manipulation such as a mind trick for his entire life.
