I recently watched the OT with my 7 and 5 year old daughters for the first time and they loved it. It got me thinking for those of you like me who loved SW as a kid and now have kids about that same age, how have you introduced your kids to the franchise?

I'm not a fanatic so I don't have collectibles or anything like that. It wasn't intentional but my girls went like this:
    SW LEGO video game
    Rebels TV show
Star Tours ride and Jedi Academy at WDW
    Empire Strike Back
    Return of the Jedi
    original Star Wars
now we are starting the Clone Wars show on Netflix which I've never seen an quite enjoy

Not sure what to do with the PT which would requirement to obtain a copy somehow since I don't own a copy and haven't seen any of them in 10 years.

I'm pretty young so I'm not having kids anytime soon, but I like to think I'd just be consuming some sort of Star Wars something or another and my kid would be curious. And then we can go from there. Or they might not be. They'll be exposed to Star Wars sooner or later.

This is almost exactly the same boat that I'm in, more-or-less. I feel like a total geek though for thinking about how I'd introduce my hypothetical kids to Star Wars.

But yeah, I don't anticipate any grand moment where I'd sit them down and say "Now watch this, it'll change your life," like I feel I have to do with too many of my friends.

My biggest fear was that they wouldn't like it at all,but what I found is they naturally gravitate to what dad likes anyway.my eldest who is 4 is a little young for the movies but loves my toy collection and the cartoons,it surprises me how much he takes in and remembers about themes and characters.
When he was a baby every time I would change a nappy I would whistle star wars music hoping that when he was older it would have some kind of subliminal effect of nostalgia, and what's funny is I notice sometimes when he's playing with toys he to will sing theme music reminiscent of john Williams, especially the Indiana themes.lol
I must say it's a special moment watching your kids play with the same toys you once played with when you were young.

Personally, after reading Star Wars Ring Theory (which I would recommend to anyone who hasn't read it) I watch them in order from 1-6.

Showing my kids though, will the first time at least go 4-6, 1-3. Gotta do it early though, so some little creep at school doesn't go spoiling ESB, which is really the only reason I wouldn't start with 1 in the first place.

4,5,6,1,2,3. They have to see the Original SW in that context, plus its how millions of SW fans watched so why fix it if it ain't broke.

I would say not to push your views on them as you have to let them watch them and either they will love em, like em, or hate em. Growing I had friends like me who loved SW, and friends that didn't so it isn't for everyone.

And also don't be surprised if they like certain SW movies over another at a young age, as their tastes will change when they get older. I loved Jedi more then Empire as a kid, and did a 180 on both movies when I was in high school.

I named my daughter Leia. I needed plausible deniability so it's spelled like the Biblical Leah, but anyone who knows me well knows she's not really the inspiration.

While explaining the Rebel strategy just before the Battle of Yavin, Jan Dodonna mentions the "...plans provided by Princess Leia," and pronounces the name Lee-ah instead of Lay-ah. My daughter always smiles at me during that part, because she totally knows.

So I guess I introduced her, at least, to Star Wars when she was born!
