    Hello Cantina mates!

    I just did a similar question on the Episode VIII thread, and then I wondered: what about Rogue One? We know this is not part of the episodes of the saga, it is a spin-off movie, and that a similar discussion is currently ongoing regarding the customary Star Wars opening crawl.

    Do you think this phrase would be used on this movie?

    Good question, however If we aren't having an opening crawl, which has been hinted at, then I wouldn't expect this line in the movie as well. Maybe a better question I think would be: Will there be a "Wilhelm scream". This would have more of a chance than a crawl or "Bad feeling......." line. Just my opinion....however I have been known to be wrong, from time to time. (C3PO voice)

    While I have no idea about the phrase being used in the movie, I have to say that your comment about Rogue One got me thinking PrincessLeiaCB3. Sure, I know that Disney named Rogue One the first of their spin-off movies but I have to ask, is this term correct? How can RO be a spin-off movie when said movie ties directly into the OT?

    The aforementioned film Rogue One is a spinoff, for the precise reason that it ties into the larger Star Wars universe. A spinoff is any product that branches out of a larger property, further expanding the brand. Lucasfilm has taken an event from a larger property: the saga film A New Hope, and have created a lesser property: Rogue One, that aims to expand upon the original larger product by providing us the story on how the Death Star plans were stolen.

    i'm kinda hoping not. i like that the overall tone of R1 feels very different; weightier perhaps. hard to tell from what we've seen so far.
    but i like that they seem to be distinguishing it from the sequels and so i hope they avoid some of the fanservice pitfalls where it's easy to do so.
