Is anyone else sick of these stupid posts on MSW? They invariably start with - "I've seen another piece of Episode VII concept art" and then continue with these lengthy descriptions and "analyses" of the supposed art.

This is akin to playing the telelphone game in a gradeschool class. Why not just show the stupid artwork and let us actually "analyze" it ourselves? It all seems very made up to me.

And I don't buy the whole argument that Lucasfilm will send a cease and desist - they could just as easily send a cease and desist for describing the artwork.

Here's an example of what REAL Episode VII artwork should be described like. Read on but beware of SPOILERS!!!!

Okay guys here we go! I've seen a real piece of concept art from Episode VII - I can't tell you my sources or post it here until a later time when I get the go-ahead from my sources. We are entering all new territory here and I for one am very excited!

This is an interior scene. It may possibly be a bar/nightclub of some type. I'm thinking of the nightclub on Coruscant where Anakin and Obi Wan chase Padme's assassin. There is a green glow in the background and some type of long counter with various figures at it. I believe one may be a Hammerhead type alien on the far right.

In the foreground there are a number of figures around a table. The central figure is a human with some type of headgear. It looks very much like the old Ralph McQuarrie drawings of the original Han Solo with headgear that leaves his hair showing but wraps around his head. He has a padded vest (his back is to us so I can't tell what the front design is like. He has a strap running from his right shoulder to a holster. I can't see the pistol in the holster but it could even be sometype of holder for a lightsaber! There is rank insignia on his left shoulder. NOT Imperial. I can't tell if it is the old Rebel style.

He has a sheet of paper spread out on the table in front of him. A Wanted poster? And he's holding something in his hand. A figure next to him - also human but bald with a Ming the Merciless style beard is holding up a thumb and two fingers. It's almost like they're bargaining. Maybe it's not a Wanted poster - maybe it's a deed to a ship? Or a map? The map to where the Khyber Crystal is?!?!? Could it be?

There are more humans but mostly aliens at the table. It doesn't look like they all know each other. Bounty Hunters? Ships crews? One is definitely a female Twilek - she has blue skin but her head tails are pulled back behind her head and covered with a head band. Could it be an older Hera from Rebels?!?

Behind her is a cyborg/droid type with a prominent red eye and another human - looks like a thug - with a flight helmet type thing - like the soft World War 2 type.

Across the table from the main Jedi figure is a rodent-like alien with white and black markings. He's short - probably around R2-D2 size. It looks like he has some type of goggles perched on his head. He's clearly angry or animated about something. Maybe he is bidding too?

There is a large - I'm talking Chewbacca-sized - alien sitting next to the Jedi on his right side. He looks almost like a companion to the Jedi. He's very large - leaning over the table. He has some spiny protrubances coming out of his body. Naked it looks like although I can't see below the waist. His face is flat with no nose and beedy eyes but he doesn't look evil. I can't see any weapons or other items on him.

There is also a blue skinned alien with tattoos across the table. He has his arms folded. He is bald and very muscular - maybe the same race as Thrawn!? He looks like he might be the bodyguard of the rodent alien. He is looking down at the table - almost like he's using the Force. I'm not sure about this one. He definitely looks like a bad guy but could just be an underworld type figure.

Well there you have it. I think this could be a PIVOTAL scene from the movie. There is definitely a LOT of detail here and something big is happening. Like I said I'm really leaning toward the crystal or wanted poster idea.

Or wait - I've just thought of this. Could this be Oscaar Isaac's buying the Falcon? And does he have a big alien companion like his...father?!?!?! Oh my God. I am so excited for this movie!

I have been given the go-ahead to post the actual artwork...soon. I'll be back.

    Okay here you go...

    Are you ready?

Why are you complaining? No one's forcing you to go to the site or read the descriptions.

I don't think this thread is doing any harm. It's open again. I personally trust Jason. I'm sure he saw all these concepts. The question is are they really going to end up in the movie and are they really legit? He seems fairly certain in his sources and I don't have reasons to doubt him. We often speak to each other. I think it's still better to describe what you've seen than not say anything. In time we'll see if he was right.

I agree about the thread, Viral. It's a complaint thread, true, but Fallon also does make a very good point about the descriptions of leaked art. As somebody who is quickly sliding into "no spoilers" territory (I did this with the PT films at about this point too) I actually find myself far more likely to read the descriptions of production art because, well, it could be darned near anything. I have to admit, I got a chuckle out of Fallon's example. ;)

I don't say this as a slam against Jason and all the work he does, of course. We've gotten some excellent rumors from him, after all, and I really dig his site. But I can also see how some folks might roll their eyes at the notion of the art descriptions without the art.

So... your response to someone you don't like posting actual information about something they have seen and may not actually have in their hands is to post a picture from Guardians and describe it as if it were in the new Star Wars movie...

I am not sure about this other guy being annoying but you are a totally waste of time

This is all a joke. It's comparing a fictional account of describing a piece of art work to be star wars related to Jason at Making Star Wars.

I think its pointless, Tom... he is complaining about someone somewhere else doing what they do... and if that is the case, don't go there...

If you want to take a look at HOW Jason does it, I think Jason does a good job... when you describe artwork, you don't put in extraneous information information or personal comments, you describe what you see and you save the commentary until later...

While calling Jason's descriptions annoying, and offering a comparison which he would prefer, Tagge gives us something which, as I point out, is a total waste of time. If his intent was to show us why he thinks Jason's posts are annoying, my point was that he should have made his example post slightly less annoying ...

If anything, this is an example of how to waste time complaining about something in an effort to get people to pay attention to you instead, and a prime example of how not to describe conceptual artwork...

I agree with you. I think his rant was pointless as well, I initially locked the thread but we decided to open it back up.

If you listen to his podcast it is clear that Randy and Jeremy also have seen the artwork. They also explain that it all comes from the same source and it is either all fake or all real. They breakdown why images have Vader, Obi-Wan's lightsaber, ect as place holders because a lot of the are is labeled WIP (work in progress). So a lot of the concepts of for example the main villain were not finalized yet or the actor who was cast was not finalized. These guys also explain that some of this art may be from several different points in the production process so it is difficult to tell if the final concept was excepted and may gave been art from previous script version to include the Michael Arnt scripts.

It is wise to take all conceptual art as just that... concepts...

But concepts are based on the central ideas that power the saga, and have a strange way of working their way back in. After all, we know that the x-wings in Ep VII are based off the original Ralph McQuarrie concepts, and for some reason we are focusing on his stormtroopers as well...

I supposed I'd feel better about their stories if they were more clear where these sources are coming from. While the articles themselves are informative, it would be ten times better if they said "the source that showed us scene x" instead of just starting up cold open. It would sound a little less like a fan's concept for a movie and more like an exclusive inside report.

As far as what the articles cover, most of it sounds like something you would see on the big screen. I still think that the whole "Luke is evil now, huehuehuehue" thing that Jason and company have been extrapolating upon is a deliberate bit of misdirection from the powers that be, though, and no amount of speculation is making that plot thread any more likely to me.

Giving details about your source is a sure way to ensure that you will never get anything from them again, and potentially costing them their job...

Glad to see you around Jason. People will always complain. Everyone has a head on their shoulders and should decide what to read and if they don't like it, well don't continue reading it and move along. We always have a choice.

I guess everyone made their points here. (LOCK) before it gets out of hand. :)
