We need an extended cut of The Force Awakens, badly, and we need it tomorrow.

I would like it. I think the movie did suffer a little from the editing process and there was a lot crammed into a short timeframe. Some better explanation of certain plot points was probably sacrificed because of it. However, star wars was first and foremost always about the characters and having some fun with them. Complicated plot lines were never that important to the OT and I think JJ took the same approach with TFA. Too much emphasis on plot detail was what happened to the prequels. I'm not sure an extended version is really needed on that basis. I wouldn't complain though.

Nobody wants to watch any more complicated stories about Republic politics and the like. It's an action-adventure movie with likeable heroes and wicked villains and cool space battles - what the original trilogy was all about.

Don't. You'll give Disney ideas about editing in some filler trade negotiation scenes, or "sitting on sofas and talking about stuff" scenes. ;)

I'd love a 3 hour+ edition. Even if some of it is filler, I just need more TFA dammnit.

Take us to Hosnian prime to see them debating in a senate for all I care...I WANT MORE

I'm in. I know there are scene that were in the script but didn't make it into the movie (Leia sendin Kor Sella to Hosnia prima, Poe getting off Jakku, Maz talking to Finn telling him hiseyes have changed). I would LOVE to have an extended cut with these

Even ANH had the Deathstar Table Scene where the line of the senat getting dissolved came up...It was important.

How about House of Carts-Style of politics. Some fast and hard hitting lines and Scenes. 20-30 seconds...

What happened to the 'Maz hands over Luke's sabre to Leia' scene from the second trailer? It seems as if it was cut out. It would also seem Maz boarded the Resistance ship on Takodana (cantina planet) and handed over the sabre on D'Qar (resistance base planet). ;)

There is a scene in the book that didn't make it to the movie.

Leia talks to Kor Sella about the Republic and how they are falling prey to the elements who are trying to delay declaring war on the FO, clinging to a non-agression pact despite all evidence pointing to agression on the FOs part.
And then she send Kor Sella out to diplomatically kick their asses and Kor Sella is on Hosnia prime when the FO fires the Starkiller.

That and the scene with Maz and Finn is the one I miss the most

I really enjoyed the film but I felt it needed a little more padding, maybe 5 or 10 minutes more. I'd like to see some of the scenes extended, to allow the film to breathe a bit more. The pace of the film needn't be quite so fast.

I wholeheartedly agree. I found general character exposure to be quite minimal and hope that an extended cut will feature all these scenes that got shortened way too much.

Only problem: Disney will probably wait for Christmas 2016 but by that time I'll be probably more interested in Rogue One. Thus, I can only hope that the extended version will become available in about 6 months, already.

Yeah, as much as I loved the movie I felt it could have benefited from a more leisurely pace in places. There were points in the movie where it would start to make me feel slightly nervous. There wasn't much time to take in details. Around the time they meet Han and then Maz it felt a bit like they were simply moving from one set piece to another. Got better later on though. Obviously some of those things were because it was a first-time viewing, but yeah.... some room to breathe here and there would have been nice.

Extended edition, though? I don't know. Maybe. I'm not opposed to it, but I'd be fine with just deleted scenes. Running time's definitely a factor when you want a movie to become a box-office hit, so it's perfectly possible that JJ's ideal version looks a little different. I'm pretty sure though that some of the shots and lines missing from the movie were filmed/recorded specifically for the trailer and not intended for inclusion in the movie to begin with, so we might not end up with as much additional stuff as we think. With a movie as expensive and time-consuming as this one, they're not going to have hours of unused, actual finished footage.

The pacing did feel off in a few places. It's like they were trying to keep it as energetic as possible. I'd really appreciate an extended cut that just gives things a bit of room to breath. The novel did an expert job of achieving this. Everything felt well rounded.

I find often the little moments are what I remember the most. Like when Luke stared out at the binary sunset in ANH, and now when Rey slid down the sand on her homemade craft. I just thought that was a great, simple and magical moment, and I hope more of these weren't left on the cutting board.

If they were, extended edition or at least deleted scenes please...

Rey’s whole introduction sequence without any speech is my favourite part of the ST so far.

The movie is perfect like that. I would have only added the scene when Kylo enters the MF. That was a cool.
