I'm not saying Luke is the cyborg. But the pose is no coincidence.
I posted the following image some time ago, as I noticed that the concept artist where using images from google as a starting point. The concept art of the cyborg in the star destroyer or the shadowy figure hugging Rey from behind are two examples.

In this case if you google "hamlet skull" you'll find the image to be at the top of the search results. I think it can be a coincidence that the hands are in the same pose, but I think it's very possible that the artist googled some reference pictures before starting.

Here is also a high res picture of that image in case you are interested.

Excellent work bud!! Truly. You know, ever since I've seen that piece of concept art, I've always felt that was Mark Hamill's mouth... Especially after seeing his reaction to Vader telling him he's his father in TESB. Something about the teeth specifically... But, Hamill could have just been used as a model for the picture.

Cool find . Probably doesn't mean Luke is the grave robber but good eye none the less. Your thread inspired me to see what similarities i could find .

And lo and behold.... didn't take long

Doesn't mean anything but it is clear that time pressed concept artists takes some shortcuts sometimes. Remember the Adam Driver one with the girl?

Exactly! Here is another example I mentioned before. They used a screencap from the EP3 star destroyer bridge:

Wow! Great find! This one really surprised me. I saw the Driver one about two months ago too.
You know, I realize people don't want to say this means anything.... but I really wonder if JJ is just messing with us...? I mean c'mon, there wasn't any real effort to get rid of the "leaked" concept art. Yeah, there were "reports" of lawsuits being filed and such, but nothing was ever really solid. And that art can be EASILY accessed by just a quick Google search. Like several others and myself have said many times, I believe we are being fed images and info to throw us off of the real plot. Some of the stuff is 100% legit, but doesn't reveal anything story or character-wise. If anything, it just confuses us more, which is what it's supposed to do. Well-played, JJ.... Well-played...

Yup , could be the case. It is kind of his thing . I really love most of the concepts though and i want them to be in the movie. I love the creepy grave robber and Rey's AT-AT house is just pure genius.

I totally geeked out one night and studied IMDB page for EP7 , who is working on what etcetera. I googled all the concept artists previous works and i could kind of guess who had done what. One funny thing i noticed in Making Starwars latest Maz Kannata leaked concept is that it is signed L.Fisher . There is none with that name listed as working on the movie whatsoever. Probably just means the IMDB info is incomplete but it could also mean that it is fake or unrelated to the project.

Yeah it's hard to say what's going on with all the similarities. It does seem a bit fishy.

Absolutely amazing . I was thinking the same thing about that top lip. It must be Hamill's face that was used, as you stated.

The cyborg was "place holder" concept art for kylo if i remember correctly. I don't think people should read much into it being luke.

This might be true, but we can't know for sure. Yes, Kylo went through a few revisions. But we can't deny that there are three concept art pieces of that cyborg.
It might very well be Kylo at the end of the movie after being almost killed, it could also be Snoke.
I seriously don't get why it's a taboo topic to discuss this concept art.

I think people are throwing around the word "placeholder" a little out of context, IMHO.
A placeholder would be - "well, we haven't decided what is going in here yet, so we'll just stick this in here for now". Perhaps the only idea we have seen or heard referred to that seems like a legitimate placeholder is the concept art of someone who looks very much like Vader himself leading the attack on the Jakku village. Who knows - maybe they even considered, at some point, that the villain literally looks exactly like Vader in the movie, and even that wasn't a placeholder per se... but I doubt it.

The point is, concept art is exactly what it claims to be - art exploring different ideas. They can't all end up in the finished movie.
I don't doubt for a second that the cyborg thing was a legitimate concept... at some point. The idea of having Vader's mask present has been retained, but the visual representation of the villain in that art has clearly changed since those concepts were done.
That doesn't make him "placeholder", it simply makes him a rejected concept.
Look at all the varied concepts for General Grievous - the weird head with tentacles, the child floating in a chair... they were just exploring loads of different stuff, but, ultimately, they could only choose one.

I like to stress the point that we haven't seen Snoke yet. It might very well be Snoke who we are seeing here. I don't know why this concept art has to be discarded. We have at least three concept arts exploring this idea. I think the chances of seeing it in the film are quite high. Not saying it's for sure, of course. But the fact that there are three concept art pieces and again, the fact that one of them includes a finished movie prop, tells me that this concept was explored pretty far into pre-production.

Not Luke. In no movie directed by anyone BUT Jar Jar Binks would Luke be evil or a cyborg. End of story. Stop tripping out. 8)
