I actually think they are a good idea, just to shorten the overall thread length. When I read a topic that has 45 pages, I will not read the whole thing, especially when every other thread is "no, you are dumber!", no "YOU are dumber!"

I always say that you have to pick and choose who you interact here. I’ve built up good friendships over the past 4 years here and usually stay close to them for most of my conversations. But I’m always interested in other opinions of someone new who makes quality posts. Ironically I talked to many who disagreed with me on TLJ here over the past 2 years as I wanted them to challenge me in maybe I was seeing things in a different way.

My best recommendation: Don’t take the bait and that person will move on. Social Media is all about getting attention and that’s what fuels all trolls out there.

 

Many hate TLJ still.

I can definitely relate to this. I never post much but I avoided the forum for over a year and don't have any other social media presence. I get not liking something or feeling a bit let down but for the love of Chewie, I cannot stand constant negativity. Claiming to hate something but dwelling on it every day for over a year, screaming into the void...I don't try to understand that madness, I just avoid it.

But, the anticipation for The Rise of Skywalker got me to pop back in to the Cantina, to look around a bit, maybe order a drink or two.

I can relate well to this thread. I used to go to a different SW message board, but the negativity just got wearisome. I'm not saying everyone should like the movies, and I can completely understand some of the complaints. But, nevertheless, listening to those complaints all the time sucks the fun out of SW. It's like going to a restaurant that you enjoy, but constantly being seated next to the same few people who yell loudly about how bad the food is every evening. And sometimes maybe they're the right, maybe something wasn't cooked as well as it should have been, but after a while, you start to wonder why these people keep coming back if it bothers them so much. Why not just find a restaurant they DO enjoy? But no, they keep coming, and so eventually YOU'RE the one who decides to eat somewhere else, despite the fact that you actually kind of like the food, flaws and all.

Anyway, from a quick glance around at the various posts on this site, there seems to be a lot more positivity here, and the negative posts seem less agressively negative, so I'm glad I found this site!

 

I think the TROS Teaser was the turning point, as it gave the fanbase something new to discuss and a lot of people finally moved on from TLJ. The Palpatine cackle was just a huge revelation that it really took over every SW conversation I've had for the past month. There are so many angles they can play with his return (in whatever form) and I think that was just enough to shift the conversation away from TLJ and now we are onto TROS.

 

This was always going to be the case IMO.
The issue with the PT, IMO, was two bad movies in a row then a fine one in ROTS but then that was it. Star Wars was done so the vitriol festered. But with the split on TLJ, ROTS was always just a few years away and has a much better chance of placating those who are still upset over TLJ.
