Misunderstood to this day, this daring Gungan outcast was the catalyst to some of our favourite Star Wars moments, from Luke swinging across the Death Star to the great battle of Yavin.. We have Jar Jar to thank for it all.

His charisma, courage and perception transported a young Obi Wan and his master Qui Gon through the heart of Naboo, before he fought valiantly against the droid army and singlehandedly liberated Naboo.

Jar Jar is what our children should aspire to be, he is the beacon of hope that we should all look to in awe. He is proof that no matter who you are, where you are from, or how limited you are mentally.. You can go into politics.

Jar Jar Binks is a great man.

You may call him stupid, and you may want to karate kick him into a Sarlacc Pit after forcing him to swallow a thermal detonator, but one thing is for sure..

Jar Jar Binks IS Star Wars. Moreso than Han, or Luke, the droids or even Darth Vader..

Jar Jar is key to all of this.

I cannot wait to see him in The Force Awakens, more details below:

I just tried to watch TPM and give it a chance but I couldn't sit thru it. It's weird I have fond memories of the time around the movie came out like going to taco bell and getting the toys so when I see a young Obi-wan or Qui-gon I get a weird happy feeling but it's because it was a fun time in my life an ignorance of a child. Clearly the good feelings are for the time period and not for the movie itself as I have confirmed for myself yet again. (obi-wan)(qui-gon)(vicious)

Well, I think you are right!

Here's Jar Jar's impact on the Star Wars Saga:

Jar Jar led Obi Wan and Qui gon to the Gungans & then to Amidala.

Without Jar Jar, no contact between The Jedi and Amidala... the Gungan army and the Naboo....

The Trade Federation wins the war, Qui Gon never meets Anakin.

Anakin Never meets Padme.... hence no Luke and Leia.

Jar Jar votes for the Clone Army... he's responsible for the Clone Wars,... the murder of all remaining Jedi (Order 66) and the rise of the Emperor.

    In conclusion...

    Jar Jar is reponsible for:

    The Death Star
    Luke and Leia
    The Empire
    The Stormtroopers
    Darth Vader

He's the most important character of the whole Star Wars Saga

Personally I do think Jar Jar is one of the great characters in cinema history. He was completely groundbreaking as a technical achievement, has been loved now by two generations of children, was brilliantly animated and wonderfully performed by Ahmed Best and has endured as a lightning rod for debate and discussion on subjects ranging from race to the use of technology in film. Only hardcore SW fans know who Dak, Lobot or Bib Fortuna are - everyone knows Jar Jar. Love him or loathe him, he has earned his place among the most memorable characters to ever appear in a movie.

I will say that I feel as though the technical achievement required to bring that character to life is severely underrated, as is Ahmed Best's performance. Yes, the character was obnoxious with his antics, but Best gave it his all, and it's a shame his career went nowhere after the movie.

Yeah not for nothing he was a pretty memorable character for sure. How he is remembered will vary. But he was a clumsy sidekick that is like so many others thru entertainment history. Like Buster Keaton, Don Knott, Gilligan, Cpl. Agarn and many others. All had very similar roles in their respective parts. Yet they are all beloved by many for having virtually the same qualities as Jar Jar. But I have seen many say he doesn't belong in SW? Really? Well I would love to hear ideas on what kind of character he should be replaced by?

Maybe replace him with an imperial officer from the OT? Because all of them in the trilogy were so one noted that you could have had one actor play them all because there personalities were the same in every way. Maybe Admiral Ackbar? Because he was so fleshed out as a character, right?
