    This part made me chuckle:

By "certain others" does she mean Anakin regarding attachments? I'm still through Season 4 of TCW but, is there something that indicates she was aware of the true relationship between Anakin and Padme? Just wondering.

She was aware. You can't call Snips dumb. She put two and two together and, while it was never openly discussed, Anakin knew that she was aware.

    Huh-- absolutely a good point.

I never gave it a second thought... I haven't read anything else that would indicate the contradiction; this is one reason I love hanging out around here-- (The attention to details that I tend to miss).

Part that I loved the most out of this book, was when we got to see Ahsoka going to find her Kyber crystal to make her lightsaber well as when they talked about Sith making theirs. It was always nice going back to the planet where she got her crystal's, I wonder what happen there. I am always so fascinated with how people get their crystals and how they make their lightsabers.

I also enjoyed Ahsoka relationship with the youngling that is force sensitive, to my knowledge it was the first time that canon talks about what is happening to the kids that are found to have force powers. I was always curious about this, I mean just cause the Jedi was gone didn't mean the kids were still not being born with powers. I also liked when Ahsoka talks about how each youngling is stronger in a particular area of the force than others. It makes more sense with the story of the Inquisitors, not only finding and killing Jedi but are the ones that go find force sensitive younglings to use for experiments.

This book was definitely a service to the fans of Ahsoka, and it makes her role in Rebels so much more meaningful.

Only part I was a little confused about was when Ahsoka and Rex buried the other clone and left her lightsabers there....in the timeline of events when did this happen? After order 66? If so, did they work together just for the fact she wasn't a Jedi anymore?

    Overall 7.5/10

From one of the interludes, I understood that Anakin had seen her, right before going with Obi-Wan to rescue the Chancellor, and given her her lightsabers back to go to Mandalore. My guess is that maybe Anakin was commissioned to go there, but when Palpatine was kidnapped by the Separatists he had to change his plans and used Ahsoka's help. I guess also that that campaign lasted for a while - during ROTS - so when Order 66 happened, Rex had already removed his chip so he would not kill any Jedi.

Okay that makes sense, and I forgot Rex was part of the episodes on TCW when the clones found the chips.

One point- (at least) -that I wanted to remark on:

I figured Ahsoka could've been written to roll a little easier with the not-so-subtle Kaeden flirtation. (Although I'm pretty pleased the same-sex attraction was even mentioned/broached in a SW novel. That's pretty cool to itself.)

...and I'm not insinuating she (Ahsoka) needs to exhibit 'Capt. Jack Harkness' levels of "omnisexuality", (though, just maybe, that'd be pretty damned splendid) –but I was a little (amusedly) disappointed in the "mildly confused look" and the "Oh. Thanks" -reply. ...May have been a wasted opportunity, in my opinion, intentional or not. The LGBTQ community could certainly use a few more awesome heroes, but at the same time, I'll enjoy Ahsoka Tano regardless of her sexual preferences (or lack of them).

Overall, I'm just happy with having the chance to peruse a half-decent, character-defining book on a favourite character of mine. I haven't knocked off a book in that short a time frame in quite a while!

Lol I am still going over it - not yet there, but yeah maybe she call herself no Jedi, but I guess she was still one at heart in some aspects of her personality lol.

Snapped the initial portion that caught my attention...chapter 11, I think. IMG_7021.JPG
I'll add the actual "flirt" moment when I track it down. --And you're absolutely right on- Ahsoka's "Jedi hangups" are directly mentioned, as I remember.

Also, I recall this "Ahsoka Untold Tales" from the Star Wars Celebration when they mentioned this "hot boyfriend she's got for a second" LOL. Nix, I think he was called and it was during her period as outcast before unveiling a plot to assassinate Yoda. Then she meets with Anakin and the Siege of Mandalore is next.

This is one of the drawings they showed for that Nix guy, "something of a scoundrel".

    jfwcgjcxjnevwbkz88fl.jpg

Anyhow, I don't mind that much the preferences of the characters of a story as long as it makes sense for the whole story as well. On this case, we see Ahsoka is truly troubled by the aftermath of Order 66 and what is in store for her on a galaxy controlled by the Empire so maybe any romantic inclinations are not 100% necessary for the development of her character onto becoming Fulcrum.

The answer "Oh. Thanks." is in a way perfect for Ahsoka. She is no longer a Jedi padawan, but that is all she knows, she grew up in a monk community. It is perfect to show that she doesn't know how to react to romantic attention from other people, but also that girl being interested in you is perfectly normal in this galaxy. She is not shocked or anything, just surprised that the attention is pointed at her.

IMG_7024.PNG ^ This segment is the other portion I was referring to, (near the end of the book.) Utterly unnecessary to the the plot, but there's gotta be some reason the author wanted to toss it in there...maybe/possibly it was more reciprocal in earlier drafts, but the author was asked to not include such an event.

...Is it as blatant as I perceived it? To me, it's pretty clear she's quite fired up about Ahsoka, and those feelings are not (presently, at least) reciprocated.

Regardless, it's an interesting, uncommon, wee twist for a SW novel. (Or has it been touched on before to some degree?)

Anyway, I figured it was worthy of a small mention.

Agree. She's not used to be at the receiving end of any kind of romantic attention from her background.

Well, I can think of the "Aftermath" books and Sinjir preferences, or the fact that in the first book it is mentioned that Temmin was being under the care of his aunt and his aunt's female partner. And I recall Claudia Gray making some comments about Ransolm Casterfo's preferences, but not blatantly in the book that I can recall.

In "Lords of the Sith" it is mentioned that Moff Delian Mors had lost her wife too.

For the comics, we discovered Sana Starros and Dr. Aphra had their romantic backstory. But so far that's what I remember.

    Haha!
–I see, I'm just WAY behind! Good for the SW franchise!
—And thanks for the plethora of examples above. –Humbling, (as I figured we had a fresh example in 'Ahsoka'), though certainly appreciated!)

    Merci!

Sinjir (from Aftermath trilogy) is one of my favorite new SW characters in general and he is openly gay and had a partner in Life Debt (that he ditched for stupid reasons, IMO, but noble in his mind). I really, really, REALLY, hope he survives Empire's End.

I know!! I recall I liked his partner Conder Kyl, when he's hired by the Princess to get her info about Kashyyyk.

I am holding hope for both Sinjir and the romance. :D

I wonder what would he think about the Jedi and especially some kid like Ahsoka. Because, she might be a warrior but she's just a kid still. I know, I know, wrong timelines, but still.

I know, it's alright. Sometimes I wonder too how some characters would deal with other ones, even though from different timelines.

Having said that, and even if we don't know yet what happened with Ahsoka in Malachor, I hope somehow she interacted with Princess Leia in some way (when she was still Fulcrum). I know, big fan service for me, but it would be sort of endearing to see if there is something that makes Ahsoka thinks of Padme or even of Anakin, but she brushes off those thoughts as unrealistic and impossible.

    End of wishful thinking lol.
