The British Military and Sci-Fi novelist Karen Traviss has built a great following in her time, cranking out great novels. She's got action, an empathetic understanding of the soldier culture and the ability to create memorable characters that capture readers' imagination. She's something of a British Tom Clancy.

Not only did she write all the 501st novels but she also did a great job with the novelization of the Clone Wars' initial movie. She also wrote parts of series that wound up disappearing from the 'Expanded Universe' into 'Legends', and that's not the worst crime. She apparently didn't get paid for some of her writing, according her her side of it, and her magnificent work on the lore of the 501st and the Mandalorian culture was completely RETCONNED by George Lucas to accommodate a middling storyline in The Clone Wars series (regarding Mandalore).

I'm not certain how to mitigate the injustice of vaporizing an entire series of classic novels other than by remaking an episode of TCW (which is likely impossible and impractical since now storms of people own sets of DVDs they're not going to want to replace...). I hope she at least got that pay.

What I would like to see, at least, is a comic book recreation of the novel stories, bringing back in particular the young Jedi Etain Tur-Mukan and the clone troopers who surrounded her. The closest we've ever gotten is the Clone Commando team from Republic Commando, who made appearances in the novels and of course appear in fully-voiced cutscenes from the game of the same name (now playable on Nintendo Switch, I'll add).

Sometimes we can't blame Disney for eradicating something in the Star Wars lore that we love. Sometimes George Lucas did the damage himself. He, also, can be shortsighted sometimes.

Lastly, Karen Traviss and her creations deserved vastly more respect, considering how many people she brought into Star Wars superfandom via the Mandalorian culture that she helped flesh out, especially her extensive work on the Mandalorian language. All of this led the Mando superfan community to regard her as 'Momdalore'. Unfortunately her experience at the hands of Lucasfilm left her with a bad taste in her mouth and she refuses to write any more stories in the Galaxy Far, Far Away.

I will never be a Traviss fan, she was the worst SW author / VIP that I ever had to deal with as a forum mod. I found her to be a repugnant human being.

Her Mandalorian obsession became a fetish & she did not like being asked about how it affected her storytelling.

I am glad she no longer has anything to do with Star Wars.

Perhaps there are others who share your view.

Her early stuff was pretty good, I'll give you.

I know, Obi Wan once thought as u do.

Honestly, I'm surprised that there is no one else.... 10 days and not even a single comment?
