The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland confirmed last month that only one character from the High Republic novels will be making the Force-jump into the live-action series: Vernestra Rwoh. The Padawan whom readers of the books have grown to love is now 116 years old and a much more tempered and respected Jedi Master. She's also played by Headland's wife, Rebecca Henderson.

“I absolutely love Vernestra. You can tell, because I cast my wife,” she joked in her interview with Empire Magazine. They have also revealed the picture above, featuring Vernestra and Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae). But the character has evolved a lot over the past century, Headland explained:

She also went into what Vernestra's long life has meant for her:

The new online article from Empire where these excerpts were posted wrapped with a tease by Headland, who said that she's already thinking about who could make their live-action debut next from the books: “I’ve already talked to Pablo Hidalgo about it,” she said.

The Acolyte will start streaming on Disney Plus on June 4, at 6pm PT / 9pm ET / June 5 at 2am BST. Empire Magazine is dropping its full Acolyte-centric issue on Thursday, and it will also feature a career-spanning interview with Daisy Ridley.
