SPECULATION Let us talk LIGHTSABERS!!!!

I think the double bladed one is unlikely, although not impossible.
But making it from her staff sounds pretty cool.

I wouldn't count on seeing more than just Rey's and Kylo's sabers though.

 

I'm not sure it will even be covered by the film, but it would be a cool prequel comic to explain how Rey constructs her lightsaber.

And it would be cool to be double bladed.

 

Speaking of lightsabers, why were Rey and Kylo fighting over the Gratflex anyway? Where was Kylo's lightsaber? He obviously had it later on, and the scene where he slices Snoke shows that he can control more than one lightsaber at once.

Considering that the crystal may have been cloven in two (can't totally recall if it was), that could make a lot of sense.

 

Remember in the force awakens he says “that lightsaber, it belongs to me” I think he just has a need to own the lightsaber of the almighty Jedi Luke Skywalker. Or could be he doesn’t want Rey to have it or he just didn’t want her to have a saber period.

 

When I think about it, it feels like the force push battle around that saber was a mechanism for getting their fight to end without either of them losing.

 

Because he believes it belongs to him as a birthright.

 

Just like Luke in ROTJ, Rey will build her own lightsaber and it will be e new colour. My prediction is yellow!

 

If one has a double bladed saber, do they need a crystal for each blade? Also, if she did have a double blade, I think it would be neat and it would definitely be different for her to use the blue crystal and to find the green crystal from Luke's saber. That way Rey would have a blue blade and a green blade. Assuming Luke's saber and or crystal was with him on Ahch-to.

 

I think we will definitely see Rey with a new saber in IX. I do think it would be cool if she did create a double bladed saber

 

Pretty much every last drop of fun came out of me during the TLJ premier .

Upon third watch, I made sure to pay attention to young Bens hilt. To me, it looks like the same hilt he has as Kylo Ren, but without the crossguard. So that leads me to believe that when he bled his Kyber, it broke, thus he had to alter his build to accomodate the unstable Kyber.

That staff looks far too plain.

However Lightsabers obviously aren’t the focus in the ST. Kylo looks like a complete novice using one.

To be fair I think that’s a quote from a video game but Dooku’s point stands.

 

Only 1 viewing? It takes 2 or 3 to appreciate it. 1st viewing of any SW film is traumatic for me since it has to erase my expectations.

 

My vote is that she constructs a yellow one!

Also been trying to find out how ben Solo's lightsaber looks like.... We only see it for an few seconds in the flashbacks but it would bee cool to know so if we want to have one build ..

 

Not too fussed about style (single, double, staff), but I would absolutely love a new hue for a change. Yellow maybe?

 

It'd be good to see her want to fully take advantage of her prior experience with a staff to a lightsaber more believably with a saberstaff.

 

I would hope that Rey gets a new lightsaber in episode 9 and that hopefully it would a double sided lightsaber.

Double sided lightsabers are typically affiliated with the dark side and the Sith which honestly makes me want Rey to wield a double sided lightsaber even more because 1) she already knows how to fight with a staff which a double sided lightsaber is modeled after and 2) Rey has flirted with the dark side and in the context of the balance and the grey would be a great way to represent the balance of the force if she had a Sith styled lightsaber, but with a kyber crystal more in line with the light side. Personally I would love to see Rey use a double sided lightsaber that's either white or yellow.
