Light saber versus stormtrooper

    It has to do with the composition of Stormtrooper armor. In the latest issue of the ongoing Marvel Princess Leia series, a good portion of the action takes place in the caves of Sullust. I won't get too spoilery here, but some Imperials mention a specific mineral that composes Storm Trooper armor.

    User @Marc Camel brought up a theory that this mineral may be resistant to lightsabers. We are both wracking our brains about a lightsabers taking out a stormtrooper in the rebooted canon and the only place I could think of it possibly happening was in season one of Rebels.

    Anyone remember Kanan or Ezra taking a lightsabers to some stormtrooper?

    Thank you for any help or thoughts you have.

    I can't think of any time where a storm or clone trooper's armor stops a lightsaber blade, but in TCW, Palpatine showed interest in using a synthesised version of Zillo Beast scales for the clone armor. The scales of the Zillo Beast were lightsaber and blaster resistant.

    It should be noted that the armor clearly does not stop blasters, so I highly doubt that it would stop a lightsaber.

    Hm... interesting. I'm having trouble thinking of instances, and unfortunately I had to delete my Rebels recordings from my recorder to make space for sporting events. Youtube is not being a great help at the moment (copyright-wise that's understandable).

    true about the blasters, but I don't think blasters use crystals like a saber's. different energy/wave length?

    RotS had Yoda and Obi Wan take out clone troopers, but I can't think of any stormtrooper/lightsaber interactions in the OT. The closest we have is Luke vs Imperial Scout Troopers in RotJ. But Luke never actually strikes any of them, just deflects blaster-fire and hacks the front end off a speeder. Rebels I'll have to take a look. I've got every episode except Droids in distress.
    I like the idea of stormtrooper armor being upgraded from clone trooper armor, but for lightsabers? By the time of Rebels there's only one known lightsaber user in the galaxy (Vader) and he's an Imperial. Lightsaber protection seems like an unnecessary precaution. Blaster resistant armor would be much more practical, no?
